Samantha Ruth Prabhu has finally put speculations to rest. The actress confirmed that she and filmmaker-husband Raj Nidimoru are expecting their first child together. The announcement came during the success meet of her latest film Maa Inti Bangaaram in Hyderabad.
Along with sharing the happy news, Samantha also revealed that she will be stepping away from work for a while as she prepares for motherhood.

Speaking at the Hyderabad success meet, Samantha said, “Sorry guys, one more small gap and then I will be back. I know I have to take maternity leave now. But I am very happy.”

The rumours of her pregnancy gained momentum after she attended a celebration event for Maa Inti Bangaaram alongside Raj Nidimoru and the film’s team. Videos from the event quickly went viral, with many social media users noticing what appeared to be a baby bump beneath her white T-shirt. The statement was met with loud cheers from the audience.

Samantha has previously spoken about embracing change and prioritising her well-being in recent years. Now, she is preparing for what could be her biggest role yet – motherhood. While she did not share additional details about the pregnancy, sources close to the actor had earlier indicated that she is expected to welcome her baby towards the end of the year.
Earlier, BV Nandini Reddy had also hinted at the actress’ pregnancy during an interaction. Speaking to Cinema Express, she said, “Her pregnancy comes at a beautiful time, as our film Maa Inti Bangaaram has become a success.”
At the time, neither Samantha nor Raj had publicly addressed the reports.

Samantha’s pregnancy announcement comes during a successful phase in her professional journey. Maa Inti Bangaaram has emerged as a strong performer at the box office, reportedly crossing Rs 50 crore globally.
The film also marked Samantha’s return to the big screen after Kushi (2023). Many viewers and critics praised her performance as Swarna, highlighting her ability to effortlessly switch between comedy, emotion and action.
FYI, Samantha married filmmaker Raj Nidimoru in December 2025 in a private ceremony. The two tied the nuptial knots at the Linga Bhairavi Temple within the Isha Yoga Centre in Coimbatore. The two met each other while working together on The Family Man 2 wherein Samantha played Raji. They reunited for Citadel: Honey Bunny in 2024.
