Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta’s Batwara 1947 has completed five days at the box office with the Partition drama managing to cross the Rs 30 crore mark in India. The film, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan, arrived in theatres during the Independence Day weekend.
The film had a mixed start on Friday but benefited from the weekend, particularly Saturday, when its collections saw a significant jump.

According to Sacnilk, Batwara 1947 collected Rs 2.25 crore net in India on Day 5, Tuesday. The figure marks a 12.5 per cent growth over Monday’s Rs 2 crore collection. The film recorded this collection across 6,608 shows with its occupancy standing at around 16 per cent.
The Tuesday figure is a modest recovery after the film experienced a significant weekday drop. On Monday, its India net collection fell to Rs 2 crore after the weekend. But the Rs 2.25 crore collection on Tuesday indicates that the film managed to add a little more to its earnings despite entering the regular working week.
The film had opened with Rs 5.75 crore on Friday, according to Sacnilk. Its biggest day so far came on Saturday when it collected Rs 13.50 crore, followed by Rs 7.25 crore on Sunday. Monday brought the collection down to Rs 2 crore before Tuesday’s Rs 2.25 crore figure.

The film’s five-day domestic run has been heavily dependent on its opening weekend. Out of the Rs 30.75 crore India net total, Rs 26.50 crore came from the first three days. Saturday alone contributed Rs 13.50 crore which made it the strongest day for the film so far.
The Tuesday growth has helped the film move further beyond the Rs 30 crore milestone.

The film has also recorded collections from overseas markets. According to the figures provided by Sacnilk, Batwara 1947 added Rs 0.50 crore in overseas gross on Day 5 which took its total overseas gross collection to Rs 6.75 crore.
With its India gross collection at Rs 36.54 crore and overseas gross at Rs 6.75 crore, the film’s worldwide gross collection stands at Rs 43.29 crore after five days.
