Aasif Khan hails from Nimbahera in Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh district. He did not come from a film family, and acting was not initially an obvious career path for him. His interest in performing developed during his school days when he took part in a play. A major change came in his personal life after the death of his father, Ayyub Khan, in 2008. With family responsibilities on his shoulders, Aasif had to balance his ambitions with the practical realities of earning a living. He eventually devoted several years to theatre.

For many viewers, Aasif’s most instantly recognisable role remains Ganesh from Panchayat. He plays the groom who arrives in Phulera for his wedding and becomes frustrated with the situation around him.
His character’s exasperated reaction and the now-famous “Gajab beizzati hai yaar” line turned Ganesh into a meme sensation. The character later returned to Panchayat, giving Aasif more opportunities to interact with the show’s central characters and the residents of Phulera.
Alongside Mirzapur and Panchayat, Aasif has been part of several acclaimed streaming projects, including Paatal Lok and Jamtara. He has also continued appearing in films. His recent credits include the horror-comedy The Bhootnii, released in 2025, as well as Kakuda.
