Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film The Odyssey has become one of the most talked about Hollywood releases of the year. According to reports, the demand for tickets has been so high that some people have started reselling opening day tickets for hundreds of dollars.

Scalpers Are Selling The Odyssey Tickets At Huge Prices
According to reports, tickets for the film’s opening day are being resold online for more than $500, which is around Rs 47,500. The excitement around the film has been especially high for its 70 mm IMAX screenings, a format that Christopher Nolan has often preferred for his films.
Reports suggest that the first round of ticket sales for these special IMAX screenings sold out in less than an hour despite being released almost a year in advance. When more show timings were later made available, several ticket booking platforms reportedly experienced heavy traffic due to the rush from moviegoers.
As reported by the Associated Press, major theatres such as AMC Lincoln Square in New York and AMC CityWalk in Los Angeles have remained nearly sold out for weeks. Despite this, many fans are still trying to secure seats at these popular locations. Reports also claim that ticket scalpers on eBay have listed tickets for more than $500.
The Odyssey Advance Booking Sees Strong Response In India
The buzz surrounding The Odyssey is not limited to international markets. Reports suggest that advance bookings for IMAX shows in India also opened well before the film’s release.
With about a week left before the release, premium IMAX tickets in cities including Mumbai and Delhi have reportedly sold out in many theatres. Some of these tickets were priced as high as Rs 3,300.
Christopher Nolan Opens Up About The Odyssey’s Release
Speaking about the anticipation surrounding the film, Christopher Nolan said that the audience ultimately decides how a movie is received.
“The audience tells you what it is,” Nolan told Associated Press.
“And that means that for us, this is an exciting moment, but a very frightening moment, because it’s real. There’s nothing to hide behind. We made this film for a theatrical audience, and it goes out in the world as that. And we’ll see what the world makes of it,” he added.
About The Odyssey
The Odyssey is based on Homer’s famous ancient Greek epic. The story follows Odysseus as he begins his long and difficult journey home after the Trojan War.
Matt Damon plays the lead role of Odysseus while Anne Hathaway stars as Penelope and Tom Holland portrays Telemachus. The film also features an ensemble cast including Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Elliot Page, John Leguizamo and Himesh Patel.
Backed by Universal Pictures, the Odyssey is scheduled to hit theatres on July 17.
