Christopher Nolan is set to visit India for the first time to promote one of the year’s most anticipated films, The Odyssey. The Oscar winning filmmaker will travel to Mumbai for a two day promotional tour ahead of the film’s worldwide release. It will mark the first time one of his movies will have an official premiere in the country. The event is being seen as a major milestone for both Nolan and Indian moviegoers who have long turned out in large numbers for his films.
Christopher Nolan To Attend The Odyssey Premiere In Mumbai
The India premiere of The Odyssey is scheduled to take place on July 10 and 11 in Mumbai. The special screenings will be held at PVR ICON, Phoenix Palladium, just days before the film arrives in cinemas around the world. Nolan and the cast are also expected to participate in promotional activities during their visit.
Nolan’s visit is expected to be one of the biggest Hollywood promotional events hosted in India in recent years. Over the years, films like Inception, Interstellar, Dunkirk, Tenet and Oppenheimer have built the director a loyal fan following in the country.
Advance IMAX Bookings Witness Strong Demand
The excitement surrounding The Odyssey has already been reflected in advance ticket sales. Bookings for the film’s IMAX shows in India opened on June 8, more than a month before its release.
According to an earlier report by The Indian Express, citing sources at PVR INOX, over 45 per cent of the available IMAX tickets had already been sold within weeks of bookings opening. The early response points to strong interest from audiences eager to experience Nolan’s latest film on the biggest screen possible.
Nolan has long been known for designing his films specifically for IMAX viewing, and The Odyssey continues that tradition. It is also the first narrative feature film to be shot entirely using IMAX cameras, making the large format release an even bigger draw for cinema lovers.

About The Odyssey
Based on Homer’s ancient Greek epic, The Odyssey follows the story of Odysseus as he attempts to return home after the Trojan War. The film stars Matt Damon in the lead role, with Anne Hathaway playing Penelope and Tom Holland portraying Telemachus. The ensemble cast also includes Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Elliot Page, John Leguizamo and Himesh Patel.
Backed by Universal Pictures, The Odyssey is scheduled to release in theatres on July 17.
