Crew Girl Season 1 may be over but the story is far from settled. The Netflix teen drama ended with Teagan caught between Cam and Josh, a major health revelation changing Josh’s future, and Cam making a bold move by kissing Teagan. Meanwhile, Easton Prep is preparing to launch a girls’ rowing team, opening up another potential storyline for the characters.

So, is Crew Girl Season 2 happening? Here’s what we know so far and what creator Vivian Lin has said about where the story could go next.

Will There Be A Crew Girl Season 2 On Netflix?

Netflix has not officially renewed Crew Girl for Season 2 at the time of writing. That means there is currently no confirmed renewal, release date or production schedule for a second season. The wait could potentially be a long one if Netflix does give the show the green light. Season 1 was filmed between September and November 2025 before arriving on the streaming platform nearly a year later.

If Season 2 is renewed and follows a similar production timeline, a late 2027 or early 2028 release could be possible. However, that is only an estimate. Netflix has not announced when production would begin or when new episodes would arrive.

What Has Creator Vivian Lin Said About Crew Girl Season 2?

The good news for fans is that Lin clearly has more stories in mind. The creator has revealed that the writers have already spent plenty of time discussing what could happen to the characters if the show returns.

“In the writers’ room, you’re always just gossiping about the characters, so you’re always theorising and gossiping about them, and then eventually things become ‘real life’ for the characters,” Lin told Swooon. That doesn’t confirm Season 2 but it does suggest the creative team has plenty of material to explore.

What Could Happen To Teagan In Crew Girl Season 2?

Teagan entered Easton Prep as an outsider, but by the end of Season 1, she had found her place within the rowing team. The problem is that her future on the crew is no longer straightforward.

Lin has explained that Teagan has not yet experienced enough of life to truly understand who she wants to become. “She hasn’t experienced enough yet of her life. She’s just settled in after being upended. And she’s not in her form,” Lin said.

Teagan is a rower who has found herself taking on the role of coxswain. Lin previously explained that, from Teagan’s perspective, being a coxswain can feel like a demotion. “The thing for Teagan will always be: ‘If you’re a rower, you’re a rower, and you don’t want to be coxing.’ Coxing is a bit of a demotion,” Lin told Deadline.

But Teagan has also discovered that she genuinely enjoys leading the team. “She loves it. It explores a side of leadership to her. She loves it because she loves the team, and so there is a real existential question for her going into the next season,” Lin said.

Will Teagan Choose Cam Or Josh In Crew Girl Season 2?

Then there is the question fans are probably asking most: Cam or Josh? The Season 1 finale deliberately refused to give viewers an answer. Josh asked Teagan for another chance after revealing his heart condition and undergoing surgery. But before the situation could be resolved, Cam kissed Teagan after stepping into the stroke seat.

That leaves Teagan with feelings for both boys, although Lin has explained that the two relationships represent very different sides of her. “Everything about Teagan and Josh is just instinctual. It’s never thought out. It’s just a feeling and a moment and an opportunity,” Lin said.

Her relationship with Cam, meanwhile, connects more directly to Teagan’s identity as a rower. “With Cam, it’s a little more… [He] speaks to her rower side and who she wants to be, and they have a common place in life,” Lin explained.

Lin also acknowledged that Teagan still has genuine feelings for Cam, while stressing that her connection with Josh is also real.

“I think so. I don’t want to diminish that she has real feelings for Josh and that it’s something real, but I also think she’s heartbroken,” Lin said. “You can hold two things at once, so I think she’s still really wounded from that.”

What Happens To Josh After His Heart Condition Is Revealed?

Josh has perhaps the biggest personal storyline heading into a potential second season. His revelation that he has hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, or HOCM, changes his relationship with rowing — the sport that has shaped so much of his identity. Lin has stressed that the condition is not simply being used as a convenient plot device.

“We are taking it seriously. He really does have hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, HOCM,” she told Deadline. “It is serious. We don’t know. Josh doesn’t know. So what does that mean for his life?”

Josh also has emotional work to do. According to Lin, he has spent years hiding important parts of himself and has hurt people while keeping his secret. “He has hidden himself away for so long, and he’s on new footing. His family has been upended, his rowing has been upended,” Lin said.

Could Cam And Madison Become A Couple?

Cam also enters a potential Season 2 in a very different place. His confidence has grown throughout the first season, and Lin believes that his decision to kiss Teagan came after he finally started believing in himself.

“What gave him the courage to kiss Teagan was that he was able to take the mantle for the first time and felt good about himself,” Lin said.

Lin has hinted at a possible connection between Cam and Madison, Coach Hayden’s daughter. “There’s a vibe,” she said, adding that something about Madison brings out a different side of Cam. “There’s a special connection there, and I think it’s going to get complicated or messy.”

When Could Crew Girl Season 2 Be Released?

There is no confirmed release date for Crew Girl Season 2 because Netflix has not yet announced a renewal. Season 1 was filmed in late 2025 and arrived on Netflix in 2026. If a second season is ordered, production and post-production could take considerable time.

A late 2027 or early 2028 arrival is therefore possible based on the previous timeline but it should not be treated as an official release window.
