Elon Musk has weighed in on The Odyssey months after publicly criticising Christopher Nolan’s casting choices for the epic film. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO has now claimed that his artificial intelligence platform, Grok Imagine, will create a full length version of Homer’s classic poem that is “historically accurate.”

Musk made the announcement on X (formerly Twitter) where he shared an AI generated three minute short inspired by The Odyssey that had originally been posted by another user. Alongside the clip, he revealed that Grok’s version of the story is expected to arrive before the end of 2026.

Elon Musk Announces AI Version Of The Odyssey

Sharing the post on X, Musk wrote, “Before this year ends, Grok Imagine will make a full-length movie of The Odyssey that is historically accurate and true to the art of Homer.”

His announcement comes as Christopher Nolan’s adaptation continues to dominate conversations following its theatrical release and impressive box office performance.

But Musk’s description of the project has already sparked debate online. Homer’s The Odyssey, written nearly 2,800 years ago, is a work of mythology filled with fictional creatures and supernatural eventsn including the Cyclops Polyphemus, the six headed monster Scylla and the sorceress Circe who transforms sailors into pigs. Because of those fantasy elements, many have questioned what a “historically accurate” adaptation of the ancient Greek epic would actually look like.

Elon Musk Previously Criticised Christopher Nolan’s Casting

Musk’s latest comments also follow months of criticism directed at Nolan’s casting decisions for the film.

Earlier this year, the billionaire objected to the casting of Lupita Nyong’o as Helen of Troy. In a post shared in March, Musk wrote, “Chris Nolan is an anti-White racist,” while claiming the filmmaker had cast Nyong’o because “He wants the awards.”
