Katrina Kaif is one of Bollywood’s biggest and most successful actresses today. With several blockbuster films, a massive fan following and a career spanning over two decades, she has established herself as one of the most bankable stars in Indian cinema. However, before becoming a Bollywood favourite, Katrina’s journey started with modelling and advertisements. Not many fans know that her first-ever commercial featured her alongside one of the biggest superstars of the country and it’s not Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan.
Katrina Kaif’s First Ad
In a previous interview with Mashable India, Katrina opened up about her early days in the industry. After coming to India to pursue modelling, she started approaching advertising agencies and began appearing in commercials.
During the same chat, she also revealed that her first-ever commercial was with Vijay. Talking about the experience, she said, “The first ad that I did was with Vijay sir. It was an ad for a soft drink and I was playing a ballerina and I could not dance to save my life, and my friend who later saw the ad told me, ‘You were the world’s clumsiest ballerina in that ad’.”
The commercial featured Katrina and Vijay together in a soft drink advertisement, years before both became major names in Indian entertainment.

Katrina made her acting debut with Boom in 2003. While her initial years in the industry were challenging, she gradually became one of Bollywood’s most popular actresses. She gained recognition with films like Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?, Namastey London, Welcome and Singh Is Kinng. She later delivered several successful films, including Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Ek Tha Tiger, Dhoom 3, Tiger Zinda Hai and Sooryavanshi.
Her last theatrical release was Merry Christmas (2024), where she starred opposite Vijay Sethupathi.
Katrina, who recently welcomed her first child with husband Vicky Kaushal, is yet to announce her next film project. She was expected to be seen in Farhan Akhtar’s Jee Le Zaraa alongside Alia Bhatt and Priyanka Chopra but the film is currently on hold.
