The Independence Day weekend is bringing a new set of movies and shows to OTT, so you do not necessarily have to step out to get your daily dose of entertainment. From Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna’s romantic drama Cocktail 2 to Kangana Ranaut’s intense Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, August 14 has something for different kinds of viewers.

Cocktail 2
Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna headline Cocktail 2, Homi Adajania’s romantic drama set partly against the picturesque backdrop of Sicily. The film follows Kunal and Diya, a couple whose relationship enters complicated territory when Ally becomes part of their holiday.
It begins as a seemingly harmless situation soon turns into a messy emotional equation. Despite sharing its title with the 2012 hit, Cocktail 2 tells a new story.

Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata
Kangana Ranaut stars in Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, a medical drama set during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. The film shifts the focus towards the medical workers who found themselves treating patients while the city was facing an unprecedented crisis.
Doctors and hospital staff have to continue doing their jobs despite the danger around them. Girija Oak and Smita Tambe are also part of the cast.

Aakhri Sawal
Sanjay Dutt and Namashi Chakraborty lead Aakhri Sawal which revolves around a clash between a respected professor and his research scholar.
Namashi plays Vicky Hegde whose controversial thesis is rejected by Professor Gopal Nadkarni, played by Dutt. Vicky accuses his mentor of allowing ideological and institutional bias to influence the decision. This academic dispute soon grows into a much bigger public controversy.

Don’t Say Good Luck
Sunny Sandler stars in this coming-of-age drama as Sophie, a 15-year-old theatre student who finally gets the lead role in her school musical. It should be an exciting moment for her but her happiness is interrupted when she discovers that her mother’s cancer has returned.
Sophie now has to deal with rehearsals, school, friendships and the uncertainty surrounding her family at the same time. The film follows her as she tries to hold on to her teenage life while being forced to confront something much bigger than herself.

Umthetho
If crime thrillers are more your thing, Umthetho brings a gritty South African story to Netflix. The series follows Mbali Dlamini, a young prosecutor whose life changes when she discovers that her brother whom she believed was dead, is actually alive and connected to a powerful prison syndicate.
The situation becomes even more dangerous when another member of her family gets caught up in the same criminal world. Mbali is then forced to navigate a dangerous situation where her work as a prosecutor clashes with her responsibilities towards her family.

My Best Friend, His Girlfriend And Me
This German comedy takes a lighter approach to relationships and friendship. Two longtime best friends find their comfortable equation changing when one of them starts dating a new woman.
The other friend struggles to accept the new relationship and begins interfering which creates a series of awkward situations.

Aroopi
Horror fans have Aroopi, a supernatural thriller that also plays with the question of what is real and what is happening inside the protagonist’s mind.
The story begins generations ago when a vengeful spirit named Padmini is sealed inside a doll at the Aryanattu family estate. Years later, two thieves accidentally break the seal and release the spirit.
The story then moves to the present where Niranjan, the last surviving heir of the family, returns to the estate following a brutal killing. He is also living with schizophrenia, making his experience even more unsettling as the film blurs the boundary between a supernatural haunting and psychological turmoil.
