Breaking the silence, director Anil Sharma has shared a major progress report on Gadar 3, teasing a production timeline and a massive casting shake-up.
Gadar 3 Script- A Nuclear Bomb
While many expected the makers to rush into a sequel to capitalize on the previous film’s historic earnings, Anil Sharma is taking an incredibly meticulous approach. Speaking with Hindustan Times, about the pressure of living up to the franchise’s legacy, the filmmaker noted that if the original story was an explosive baseline, he needed an “atom bomb” of an idea to justify Gadar 2. To push forward with a third film, he insists nothing less than a “nuclear bomb” of a script will do.
The director confirmed that the writing team is currently deep in development on the screenplay. Rather than churning out a rushed story to exploit a brand name, the focus is entirely on establishing a powerful emotional core and out of the box confrontation sequences that can match the weight of the previous instalments. Sharma had previously paused active development on the franchise to wrap up his directorial project Vanvaas, but his undivided attention has now officially shifted back to the world of Tara Singh.
Gadar 3 to start shooting in 2027
The most significant revelation from the director’s update is the project’s official timeline. Sharma revealed that if the scripting stage wraps up on track, camera roll for Gadar 3 will begin next year in 2027.
This deliberate pre-production runway gives the crew the necessary time to finalize the massive scale of the period actioner. It also perfectly accommodates Sunny Deol’s current packed calendar. The action superstar is navigating a major career renaissance, currently fronting high-profile projects like the Aamir Khan-produced Lahore, 1947 and the highly anticipated war epic Border 2. By targeting 2027 for Gadar 3, the makers are making sure that Deol gets a clear calendar for Gadar 3 so that he could focus entirely on it.
Nana Patekar in Gadar 3?
In a twist that no one was expecting, Anil Sharma also dropped a major hint regarding a big change in the cast. He revealed that there are talks going on with Nana Patekar for a role in the upcoming sequel. While the character he would play is still unknown, but it will actually be interesting to watch. Sunny Deol’s unorthodox handpump action with Nana Patekar’s intense acting and dialogue delivery could actually create a masterpiece.
