Japanese adult film star Hana Kuraki has died at the age of 25, with reports of her death emerging from Tokyo over the weekend. Kuraki was reportedly found dead inside an apartment in Tokyo’s Kabukicho district on Saturday, September 12. A friend is reported to have discovered her body. The circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear.
Reports have described the death as a suspected suicide, but police and Kuraki’s management had not publicly confirmed an official cause of death at the time of reporting. The news has also brought renewed attention to Kuraki’s final months, including a sudden career hiatus in June after she said she had suffered serious facial and jaw injuries in a traffic accident.
Here’s what we know about Hana Kuraki, her career and the unanswered questions surrounding her death.
Who Was Hana Kuraki?
Hana Kuraki was a Japanese adult film actress who entered the industry in 2024. According to recent reports, she had previously worked as a hair and makeup assistant before making her debut as an adult performer. She went on to build a sizeable following and was associated with S1 NO.1 STYLE through the T-Powers agency.
Her career had been growing rapidly before her death. Kuraki had also been announced as an ambassador for the Taiwan Adult Expo and was expected to participate in the event later in 2026. Her sudden death therefore came just months after she had continued appearing at industry and fan events.
What Happened To Hana Kuraki?
Kuraki was reportedly found dead inside an apartment in Kabukicho, Tokyo. The apartment was connected to host-club figure and club owner Sakito. Initial reports created confusion over who had discovered Kuraki’s body. Sakito later clarified the situation himself.
He said he was not the first person to find Kuraki. According to his account, one of Kuraki’s friends discovered her and contacted him. Sakito then went to the apartment and dealt with police officers and investigators at the scene.
Sakito expressed his grief over Kuraki’s death and urged people not to spread unverified information. He wrote, “I am deeply saddened and heartbroken to learn of the passing of Hana Kuraki. I offer my sincere condolences.”
He also said he hoped no additional harm would come to Kuraki or those close to her because of misinformation or speculation.
Was Hana Kuraki’s Death A Suicide?
Reports have described Kuraki’s death as a suspected suicide, and that claim has circulated widely online. However, it is important to distinguish those reports from an official determination.
The cause of death had not been publicly confirmed by police or Kuraki’s management in the available reporting. That means claims about suicide should not be presented as an established fact. The uncertainty has also contributed to a wave of speculation online. Sakito specifically asked people to stop spreading rumours and making assumptions about what happened.
What Happened To Hana Kuraki Before Her Death?
Kuraki had announced a sudden break from her professional activities in June 2026. At the time, she said she had suffered facial and jaw injuries in what she described as a traffic accident.
In her announcement, she said, “Announcement: I’ve decided to take a break for a while, so I’ll be suspending activities for a certain period. I do want to keep up with filming if I can. As for the events currently scheduled, I’ll provide an update when I can.”
Her decision to step away from work came as a surprise to fans because her career was still active. Recent reports have since brought attention back to those injuries.
Were Hana Kuraki’s Injuries Connected To Her Relationship?
Some online allegations have disputed Kuraki’s original description of her injuries as the result of a traffic accident. Those claims allege that the injuries were connected to an incident involving Shota Taira, a prominent host-club figure who was reportedly connected to the apartment where Kuraki was found. However, those allegations have not been established by police as fact.
Reports have also referred to alleged documents and claims concerning violence in Kuraki’s relationship. Their authenticity and the circumstances surrounding them have not been independently established.
Sakito has said Kuraki previously spoke to him about difficulties in her personal relationship and that he had heard her concerns.
What Did Sakito Say About Hana Kuraki?
Sakito has repeatedly urged people to avoid speculation surrounding Kuraki’s death. His clarification about the discovery of her body was particularly important because some reports had incorrectly suggested that he was the person who found her.
According to Sakito, Kuraki’s friend discovered her and contacted him. He then went to the apartment and spoke with Tokyo police and investigators. He also expressed concern that misinformation could cause further harm to Kuraki and the people close to her.
What Was Hana Kuraki’s Last Known Career Update?
Kuraki’s June hiatus remains one of the final major public updates before her death. She had said she wanted to continue filming if possible despite her injuries, while putting other activities on hold. She had also continued to have professional ties to the adult entertainment industry and was expected to participate in an adult-industry event in Taiwan later in 2026.
