Hayden Panettiere’s sudden death at the age of 36 has left fans and the entertainment industry mourning the actress. The Heroes star was found unresponsive at a residence in Greenville, South Carolina, on Sunday and was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency responders attempted to revive her.
Panettiere’s death is still being investigated and authorities have not yet confirmed an official cause or manner of death. Her autopsy has been completed with the Greenville County Coroner’s Office saying that “no signs of trauma” were found that would have contributed to her death.
As the investigation continues, new details have emerged about the apartment where Panettiere was staying, including what was reportedly found inside the property and what happened in the moments after emergency services were called.
What Was Found In Hayden Panettiere’s Apartment?
According to TMZ, Narcan was found on a mattress inside the loft apartment where Panettiere was staying when she died.
Narcan, also known as naloxone, is a nasal medication used to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. But its presence at the scene does not confirm that Panettiere died from an opioid overdose. It is also not known whether the medication was administered to the actress in an attempt to revive her.
Was Hayden Panettiere’s Death Linked To An Overdose?
Reports have mentioned a suspected overdose in connection with the emergency response but an overdose has not been officially confirmed as Panettiere’s cause of death.
According to reports based on 911 audio, the first call was made at around 1:51 PM on Sunday. A female dispatcher initially described the situation as a cardiac arrest. A male dispatcher was later heard referring to a suspected overdose at the residence.
Panettiere was pronounced dead at 2:32 PM, around 40 minutes after the first emergency call.
The circumstances surrounding the suspected overdose remain unclear and officials are still investigating.
What Did The Autopsy Reveal About Hayden Panettiere?
The Greenville County Coroner’s Office completed Panettiere’s autopsy on Monday.
The coroner’s office said that “no signs of trauma were discovered that would have contributed to the death.” But this does not mean that authorities have determined what caused her death. The official cause and manner of death are still pending further investigation and additional studies.
Chief Deputy Coroner Shelton England also told the Daily Mail that it was too early to discuss the drug overdose theory.
What Happened At The Apartment Where Hayden Panettiere Died?
A neighbour has also described the activity around the building after Panettiere was found unresponsive.
Micah Lee, who lives at the Judson Mill Lofts complex where the actress was staying, told WYFF that there was a ‘bunch of commotion in the hallway’ after he heard that someone had collapsed inside a unit.
Lee said, “The halls are pretty hollow, so noise echoes throughout. And I had just heard about someone collapsing,” before adding, “And then afterwards there was talk about cardiac arrest. I can’t confirm any of that. That’s just what I’ve heard.”
What Did Hayden Panettiere’s Father Say After Her Death?
Panettiere’s father, Skip Panettiere, has asked for privacy as the family deals with her death.
In a statement to ABC News, he said, “It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden,” and described his daughter as “an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her — and to the millions who watched her onscreen.”
Panettiere was due to turn 37 later this week. She began her career as a child actor before becoming widely recognised for playing Claire Bennet in Heroes and Juliette Barnes in Nashville. She also appeared in films including Remember the Titans, Ice Princess, Scream 4 and Scream VI.
