Nearly two decades after Heyy Babyy brought Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh and Fardeen Khan together for a chaotic baby adventure, the popular comedy is getting a sequel. Producer Sajid Nadiadwala has confirmed Heyy Babyy 2 as one of three upcoming films that will be shot in Australia.
The announcement came during a meeting with New South Wales Premier Chris Minns at Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment’s Mumbai office on Thursday. However, there is one big question fans will have — will the original cast return?
Well, Nadiadwala has not yet announced whether Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Fardeen Khan or Vidya Balan will reprise their roles in Heyy Babyy 2. The director for the sequel has also not been confirmed.
When Was Heyy Babyy 2 Announced?
The sequel was announced as part of a new three-film collaboration between Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and Australia through Sydney-based TEMPLE. The production house is set to take three of its upcoming films to Australia, with Heyy Babyy 2 among the projects. The announcement is particularly significant because Australia has a connection with the original film as well.
Nadiadwala recalled his experience shooting Heyy Babyy in the country and praised Australia’s locations as well as its film infrastructure. “Australia is not only breathtakingly beautiful, but also an incredibly film-friendly country with a highly professional, efficient and welcoming environment for filmmakers,” Nadiadwala said, in a statement, adding that his team had a memorable experience shooting there.
Why Is Heyy Babyy 2 Returning To Australia?
The sequel’s Australia connection comes almost 20 years after the original film was shot there. New South Wales Premier Chris Minns welcomed the production house’s decision to return, calling Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment one of the major names in Indian cinema.
“They’ve had a long relationship with Australia, including filming the original Heyy Babyy here almost 20 years ago, and we’re really pleased they want to come back,” Minns said. Australian filmmaker Anupam Sharma also recalled the original production, praising Nadiadwala and his team for their professionalism and their respect for the Australian way of working.

The original Heyy Babyy starred Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Fardeen Khan and Vidya Balan, alongside Juanna Sanghvi and Boman Irani. But no casting announcement has been made for the sequel yet. That leaves the biggest question surrounding Heyy Babyy 2 unanswered: will the original trio return?
Akshay, Riteish and Fardeen recently revisited the film’s nostalgia when they recreated their iconic dance steps from Heyy Babyy for their later project Khel Khel Mein, reminding fans of the chemistry that made the 2007 comedy memorable.
What Was Heyy Babyy About?
Released in 2007, Heyy Babyy followed three bachelors whose carefree lives changed after a baby was left at their doorstep. What began as a comedy about three irresponsible men dealing with unexpected parenthood eventually developed into a story about friendship, responsibility and family.
Directed by Sajid Khan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the film received mixed reviews from critics but opened strongly at the box office.
The film’s premise also drew comparisons to earlier films, including the Malayalam movie Thoovalsparsham (1990) and the American comedy Three Men and a Baby (1987), which itself was based on the French film Three Men and a Cradle (1985).
