Fatima Sana Shaikh, Aneet Padda and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub are set to share screen space in the upcoming series Hunkkaar: The Roar. The makers unveiled the trailer on Thursday, offering a glimpse into a tense investigation involving a teenage girl, a powerful cult leader and a case that quickly becomes a media spectacle.
The series follows 17-year-old Meenu Rawat, played by Aneet Padda. Her accusation against revered cult leader ‘Baapji’ sets the investigation in motion.
In the trailer, Meenu accuses Baapji of sexually assaulting her. Soon, the straightforward case becomes far more complicated. As the police begin investigating the allegation, questions emerge around Meenu and the circumstances surrounding her accusation. The trailer deliberately keeps viewers guessing about what is really happening and whether everything is as it first appears.
Hunkkaar The Roar Trailer
Meenu finds herself at the centre of an investigation after accusing Baapji, an influential spiritual figure with a devoted following, of sexual assault. But the case does not remain confined to the police station.
With Baapji’s influence and reputation at stake, the allegation quickly draws widespread media attention. Cameras, headlines and public reactions begin surrounding the investigation, adding another layer of pressure to an already sensitive case. The trailer suggests that the question is no longer simply about what happened between Meenu and Baapji.
The police begin questioning whether Meenu is as innocent as she initially appears. That creates the central mystery of Hunkkaar: The Roar. Is the investigation uncovering inconsistencies, or is Meenu being subjected to the same scrutiny that often follows allegations against powerful figures?
How Does The Media Influence The Hunkkaar Case?
The trailer shows the media closely following Meenu’s case, with constant coverage beginning to shape how the story is perceived. As more people form opinions, the pressure on everyone involved only grows. The series asks what happens when public opinion becomes almost as influential as the investigation itself.
JioHotstar shared the trailer with the question: “Jab ek ladki ki awaaz takraayegi samaaj ki bhakti se, toh jeet kiski hogi?” The series is produced by Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment in association with Purple Pebble Pictures, with Mangata Films Production.
