Television actor Ram Kapoor has opened up about the difficult phase he went through when he was starring in the hit show Bade Achhe Lagte Hain. While the serial quietly brought him a great deal of fame and made him a common household name, the actor revealed that he was actually dealing with his own personal struggles in silence. During that time, he said, it wasn’t always easy, even if everything looked fine from the outside.

Ram Kapoor Opens Up About His Battle With Depression During The Show

While Bade Achhe Lagte Hain made Ram Kapoor one of television’s biggest stars and also earned him a lot of immense love from the audience, the actor said he was dealing with one of the toughest phases in his life around the same time. In other words, behind all that success, he was going through severe depression and emotional stress, kind of quietly. Ram also explained that the pressure that comes with sudden or overnight fame, plus these long and demanding shooting schedules, really took a toll on his mental health and his overall well-being too.

Actor Admits His Behaviour Changed At The Peak Of His Fame

With the pressure mounting further, Ram Kapoor not only suffered from a plunge in his physical condition but also experienced a severe impact on his mental state. He admitted his weight had gotten to be “dangerous,” and doctors said his situation was “life-threatening.” His blood sugar levels also increased rapidly, and he was forced to take insulin, despite working long hours at the shoot. In hindsight, Ram said he has changed into a different person during that challenging time. He has admitted to being late to set, drinking booze on shoots, and treating people badly around him while working on set, and he says he is ‘deeply ashamed of himself.’

‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’ Ended Because Of Me, Says Ram Kapoor

Ram Kapoor admitted that he kind of holds himself responsible for what happened. He said he feels that Bade Achhe Lagte Hain ended because of his behavior back then, nothing else. The actor also said he feels deeply ashamed about how he treated people and the kind of choices he made while he was dealing with his own personal issues. When he thinks about those years now, Ram feels he finally gets how his actions impacted the show and everyone working around him.

Ram Kapoor Credits His Children For Helping Him Rebuild His Life

Despite winding up in one of the most brutal phases of his life, Ram Kapoor eventually found a kind of strength to flip things around.
