Arijit Singh is making a surprising return to Bollywood, months after announcing that he would no longer accept new playback singing assignments. The singer has lent his voice to Yeh Awarapan, the latest track from Awarapan 2. This is his first new playback song since his retirement announcement earlier this year.
The track has been composed by Amaal Malik with lyrics by Rashmi Virag, according to Pinkvilla. Sony Music has confirmed that Yeh Awarapan will be released on July 21 at 11:11 AM across streaming platforms which is nearly a month before the film’s theatrical release.

Yeh Awarapan To Release On July 21
Yeh Awarapan is being positioned as one of the key songs from Awarapan 2. The track is expected to capture the emotional journey of the film’s lead character, Shivam Pandit.
“Vishesh Bhatt, the creative force behind the Awarapan franchise, has curated and built the music of Awarapan 2 as a statement in itself,” a source close to the project told Pinkvilla.
The source further added, “With Yeh Awarapan, he delivers the song that sits at the very soul of Shivam Pandit’s world. And he delivers it in the voice of Arijit Singh.”
A Reunion With Vishesh Films
The song also marks another collaboration between Arijit Singh and Vishesh Films, a banner that has played an important role in the singer’s journey in Bollywood music.
“The relationship between Arijit Singh and Vishesh Films is woven into the fabric of Hindi cinema’s last 15 years. It was Vishesh Films that first placed faith in Arijit Singh, giving him Phir Mohabbat in Murder 2, the collaboration that introduced a generation to a voice it would carry with it for years,” the source said as quoted by Pinkvilla.
Arijit Singh’s Retirement Announcement Stunned Fans
On January 27, Arijit Singh left fans shocked after announcing that he would no longer take up new playback singing assignments. Sharing the news on Instagram, the singer thanked listeners for their support but did not reveal the reason behind his decision.
He wrote, “Hello. Happy New Year to all. I want to thank you all for giving me so much love all these years as listeners. I am happy to announce that I am not going to take any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. I am calling it quits. It was a wonderful journey.”
