Thalapathy Vijay’s much-awaited political action drama Jana Nayagan, which was promoted as his final film before entering politics, has completed its first week at the box office. While the film opened on a strong note, its collections have witnessed a gradual decline through the weekdays.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Jana Nayagan earned an estimated Rs 6.10 crore net in India on Day 7, taking its total India net collection to Rs 149.50 crore. The film’s India gross collection currently stands at Rs 174.63 crore.
With its overseas performance included, the Vijay starrer has reached a worldwide gross collection of Rs 255.63 crore after seven days of release.

After earning Rs 8 crore on Day 6, Jana Nayagan witnessed a drop of around 23.8% on Day 7, collecting Rs 6.10 crore net in India.

Tamil Version Dominates Jana Nayagan’s Business
The Tamil version remains the biggest contributor to the film’s box office performance. On Day 7, the Tamil version earned Rs 4.60 crore, while the Hindi version contributed Rs 1 crore and the Telugu version added Rs 50 lakh.
The film was screened across 10,359 shows in India on Wednesday, with the Tamil version recording an overall occupancy of 20.75%. Evening shows witnessed the highest turnout with 24.38% occupancy.
Jana Nayagan Beats Suriya’s Karuppu
Jana Nayagan has also emerged ahead of Suriya’s Karuppu in the first-week box office comparison. While Vijay’s film reportedly collected around Rs 149.57 crore in its opening week, Karuppu earned Rs 113.85 crore during the same period. With a difference of nearly Rs 35 crore, Jana Nayagan has secured a stronger first-week performance.
The numbers reflect Vijay’s massive theatrical pull and the audience curiosity around his final film before focusing on his political career.
