After more than three decades of courtroom rulings, Judge Judy is getting ready to put her famous gavel away. Judy Sheindlin, 83, has confirmed that Judy Justice will come to an end with its final episode in October. This marks a major milestone in a television career that began with Judge Judy back in 1996.

While Sheindlin is stepping away from the bench, her courtroom legacy will continue through her son Adam Levy whose new show Adam’s Law premieres on September 14.

Judge Judy Net Worth: How Much Is Judy Sheindlin Worth?

Judy Sheindlin reportedly has an estimated net worth of $440 million. A significant part of that wealth comes from her television career, particularly the phenomenal success of the original Judge Judy series.

The syndicated courtroom programme became one of daytime television’s biggest hits after premiering in 1996. It remained on air for 25 seasons, eventually concluding in 2021.

Sheindlin then continued her television journey with Judy Justice, which launched on Amazon Freevee and also proved successful, earning multiple Daytime Emmy Awards.

How Much Did Judge Judy Earn From Her Show?

Sheindlin’s earnings from Judge Judy were remarkable especially considering how relatively few days she reportedly worked each year.

According to reports, she worked for around 52 days a year during the syndicated show’s run. Her earnings were estimated at approximately $900,000 per working day.

Forbes reported that Sheindlin earned an estimated $47 million per year during the final years of Judge Judy, making her one of the highest-paid television personalities.

Judge Judy’s 25-Year Television Run

Sheindlin first became a major television star through Judge Judy, a syndicated arbitration-based reality courtroom programme that became a daytime favourite.

The show’s success continued for a quarter of a century. Even after Judge Judy ended in 2021, she did not stay away from the format for long.

She returned with Judy Justice. The series went on to receive multiple Daytime Emmy Awards before Sheindlin decided that it was time to bring this chapter to a close as well.

Why Is Judge Judy Retiring?

While the end of Judy Justice marks the conclusion of her time as the face of a courtroom series, Sheindlin has said that she is ready to explore other interests.

Speaking to People, she explained that she wants to move into a different phase of her life.

“I have a lot of other things of interest,” she said. “I don’t want to do hair and makeup anymore, but I still want my message to get out there.”

Sheindlin also believes she has already achieved everything she wanted to professionally.

“I don’t have to prove anything else. I did it,” she told the magazine.

She has also joked about creating Judyverse, an adult animated series inspired by the viral AI “Baby Judge Judy” videos.

Adam’s Law: Judge Judy’s Son Continues Her Courtroom Legacy

Although Sheindlin is leaving the courtroom spotlight, she is not completely walking away from television. Her next project will see her take on a behind-the-scenes role as executive producer of her son Adam Levy’s Adam’s Law.

The series premieres on September 14.

Who Is Adam Levy?

Adam Levy is an attorney and former Putnam County District Attorney in New York. He is also no stranger to courtroom television as he has previously appeared as one of the judges on Tribunal Justice, another series created by his mother.

Since 2023, Levy has appeared on Tribunal Justice alongside Judge Patricia DiMango and Judge Tanya Acker on Amazon Prime Video.

Sheindlin admitted that she did not always believe her son was ready to lead his own courtroom show.

“Maybe eight years ago he wasn’t ready. He’s ready now,” she told People.

She is now confident that Levy can handle the job on his own and believes he has the presence needed for an unscripted courtroom programme.

“There aren’t a lot of people who can carry a half hour on their own unscripted. He has what it takes,” she said.
