The second season of Paramount+’s Texas oil drama Landman concluded with a finale that felt less like a cliffhanger and more like a peaceful sunset for its central family. Tommy Norris, the main character, gained his independence, but the episode’s tidy conclusion left some viewers wondering what the show will do next.

What Exactly Happened in the Landman Finale?

The episode, “CTT,” centered on Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) forging a new path after being fired from M-Tex by Cami (Demi Moore). He rejected a corporate vice-president role at Chevron, telling his father T.L. (Sam Elliott), “Finding another ship to jump on ain’t the problem. I’m not sure I want to jump on somebody else’s ship.” Instead, he secured a deal with investor Galino (Andy Garcia) to fund an independent venture. In the final scene, Tommy gathered his family and crew to announce the formation of “CTT Oil Exploration and Cattle, LLC,” a family-run company with his son Cooper as president.

What Was Tommy’s Major Finale Decision?

After losing his job at M-Tex, Tommy faced a clear corporate path: a vice-president role at energy giant Chevron. He turned it down, telling his father, “Finding another ship to jump on ain’t the problem. I’m not sure I want to jump on somebody else’s ship.” Instead, he went to powerful investor Galino and cut a deal to fund an independent operation. In the final scene, he gathered his family and crew to announce the birth of “CTT Oil Exploration and Cattle, LLC,” a family-run company with his son Cooper as president and his father T.L. overseeing the drills.

How Was Cooper’s Legal Crisis Resolved?

A major subplot involved Tommy’s son, Cooper, who was detained by police on a potential murder charge. He had violently defended his fiancée, Ariana, from her assailant, who later died. Tommy’s lawyer, Rebecca, secured Cooper’s release. Tommy later arrived at the station and revealed the man died of a heart attack en route to the hospital, not from Cooper’s punches. After a tense confrontation, the police dropped the case, clearing the way for Cooper to lead the new family business.

What Happened to M-Tex and Cami?

The finale saw further unraveling at M-Tex. CEO Cami, having fired Tommy, offered his old job to company lawyer Nate. In a surprise move, Nate resigned instead, telling Cami her late husband always intended to sell the company. This double departure left Cami isolated, managing a company built on secrets and without her key lieutenants. The episode did not show her reaction to Tommy’s new competing venture.

Will There be Season 3 of Landman?

Yes, Landman has been renewed for Season 3.

Paramount+ officially confirmed the renewal in December 2025 after Season 2 became the platform’s most-watched original series debut. Season 3 is expected to release around November 2026, with filming likely to begin in April or May 2026.

Most of the main cast is set to return, including Billy Bob Thornton, along with Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Demi Moore, and Sam Elliott. The new season will likely follow Tommy Norris starting his own company, CTT Oil Exploration and Cattle, after his exit from M-Tex Oil.

The show’s future remains secure, as Taylor Sheridan’s new deal elsewhere will not impact Landman through at least 2028.

What Does the Ending Mean for Season 3?

While the finale wrapped up major arcs neatly—almost like a series finale—the show has been renewed for a third season. Several threads are poised to create future conflict. Cami and M-Tex could seek retaliation. Tommy and the erratic Galino have a risky partnership. Personal milestones also loom with Tommy and Angela reconciling and Cooper and Ariana getting engaged. For the Norris family, the peaceful sunset could be the calm before another storm.
