YouTube star MrBeast has entered a new chapter in his personal life. The content creator, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, has married longtime girlfriend Thea Booysen after nearly four years together. The couple reportedly exchanged vows earlier this month during a private, week long wedding celebration on Richard Branson’s Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands.
The newlyweds also gave fans a glimpse into their special day. MrBeast shared a series of wedding photographs on social media which showed the couple celebrating with close family and friends. Alongside the pictures, he wrote, “I found MrsBeast and it was the best day of my life.”
While the wedding has become one of the biggest talking points among fans, their relationship did not begin in the spotlight. DYK? It all started with an unexpected meeting in South Africa before growing into a long distance romance that eventually led to an engagement and now, marriage.
2022: An Unexpected Meeting In South Africa
MrBeast first met Booysen during a trip to South Africa in 2022, according to People. His visit had taken an unexpected turn after a planned Antarctica shoot with Logan Paul and Casey Neistat was cancelled because of COVID-19 related disruptions. With extra time on his hands, he attended a dinner hosted by a mutual friend who also invited Booysen.
Looking back at their first interaction during an appearance on the Wide Awake Podcast, Booysen admitted she was eager to meet the YouTube creator.
“I really wanted to meet him in person. He was super nice, very down to earth and he started asking me a lot of questions. Little did I know he was going off a list because he was looking for a new girlfriend,” she said.
The pair bonded over several shared interests such as gaming, books and neuroscience.
From Online Conversations To Long Distance Relationship
After returning to the United States, MrBeast and Booysen stayed in touch through messages and video calls. Their connection continued to strengthen which prompted MrBeast to fly back to South Africa for another visit.
Although they lived on different continents, the couple decided to give their relationship a chance. They later made their first public appearance together at the Kids’ Choice Awards in April 2022.
Over the next two years, they balanced busy schedules while making time for one another. In 2024, Booysen revealed that they had moved in together. The couple also welcomed a pet dog into their family.
Thea Booysen Built A Successful Career Of Her Own
While often recognised as MrBeast’s partner, Booysen has established an impressive career independently. Known online as TheaBeasty, she has been creating gaming content on YouTube and Twitch since 2016 and has also worked as an esports commentator. She is a co-owner of the South African esports organisation Nixuh.
Outside the gaming world, Booysen has an equally remarkable academic background. She earned a bachelor’s degree in law and an honours degree in psychology from Stellenbosch University before completing a master’s degree in neuropsychology at the University of Edinburgh in 2024.
She is also a published author. In 2022, Booysen released her debut young adult fantasy novel, The Marked Children, a book she spent nearly seven years writing while pursuing her university education.
Christmas 2024 Became A Memorable Day
The couple’s relationship reached another milestone on Christmas Day in 2024 when MrBeast proposed.
Their relationship has also gone through challenging moments. During the controversies surrounding MrBeast in 2024, Booysen publicly defended him after criticism surfaced online.
2026: MrBeast And Thea Booysen Get Married!
Nearly two years after getting engaged, MrBeast and Booysen officially became husband and wife in July 2026. Their intimate wedding on Necker Island was attended by close friends and family and kept away from the public eye until photographs from the celebrations were shared online.
Following the ceremony, Booysen described the wedding as the natural next step in a relationship that had always been headed towards marriage.
“It sounds silly, but this is really just a formality. Ever since we started dating we’ve been doing it with the goal of marriage. The difference is now the world knows we’re married,” she told People.
