Malayalam superstar Mohanlal is set to headline Operation Ganga, a new film inspired by India’s 2022 evacuation mission during the Russia-Ukraine war. The actor announced the project on Saturday.
The movie was earlier known by the title L367 and is being directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Vishnu Mohan. The story draws from the circumstances faced by Indians who were trying to leave Ukraine and return home after the war broke out.

What Is Operation Ganga About?
Operation Ganga takes inspiration from India’s evacuation mission carried out in 2022 to bring citizens back from Ukraine amid the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
According to the makers, the film will focus on the difficulties experienced by Indians during the period of unrest. A significant part of the story will involve students who were caught in the conflict and faced the challenge of reaching safety and eventually returning to India.
The film will also explore the difficulties involved in protecting people during an unstable situation.
Operation Ganga Cast
Mohanlal will play the lead role in the film which features an ensemble cast. Arjun Rampal, Bhagyashri Borse, Parthiban and Adil Hussain have been brought on board in key roles.

The film’s technical team also includes editor Shameer Mohammed and sound designer Bishwadeep Chatterjee.

Shashwat Sachdev is composing the music for Operation Ganga. He has recently gained attention for his work on the Dhurandhar franchise.
KV Sanjit, known for his VFX work on Kantara, is serving as the VFX supervisor, adding another experienced name to the film’s technical crew.
Who Is The Military Adviser?
Given the film’s connection to a war-time evacuation, the makers have also brought in military expertise. Squadron Leader Varlin Panwar is serving as the military adviser on Operation Ganga. He has previously been associated with productions including Operation Safed Sagar, Border 2 and Fighter.

The film is being produced by Gokulam Gopalan under the banner of Sree Gokulam Movies. Baiju Gopalan and V C Praveen are the co-producers, while Krishnamoorthy is serving as the executive producer.

Operation Ganga is arriving as part of an especially busy phase in Mohanlal’s career. A few weeks ago, the 66-year-old actor announced a lineup of seven films featuring several prominent Malayalam filmmakers.
