OTT Release This Week: The last weekend of January 2026 is looking to be one of the busiest and most diverse on the streaming calendar wiith glossy historical romances, high-octane spy action, regional dramas, and innovative reality TV series, the platforms are taking big risks on diversity as Netflix, Prime Video, Apple TV+, Zee5 and JioHotstar are all releasing their big guns in the span of four days, which is a rare treat for audiences. Industry trends indicate that the end of January releases trigger a 22-25% increase in weekend viewership and this lineup appears to be designed to capitalize on this trend.

Bridgerton Season 4 Part 1

The spotlight shifts to Benedict Bridgerton, portrayed by Luke Thompson, whose romantic tale is like a fairy tale and his relationship with Sophie Baek, played by Yerin Ha, raises questions of class divide and hidden identities in the familiar backdrop of Regency England. The series has already reached more than 600 million viewing hours globally in the earlier seasons and initial predictions indicate that Season 4 may be in the top five Netflix launches of the year in the second part arrives in February.

Netflix has launched a Telugu sports drama titled Champion, which supports multiple languages and the movie revolves around an aspiring footballer who struggles with his goals, societal pressures and personal heartbreak. Sports dramas are known to perform well on online platforms, as titles in this genre see an average of 40% more repeat views than other genres.

Dhurandhar

Dhurandhar, the latest directorial venture by Aditya Dhar, is expected to be one of the most prominent examples of how a movie can transition from the big screen to the online platform and headlined by Ranveer Singh, this spy thriller has a massive cast and a storyline that revolves around clandestine operations and the gray areas in between. According to reports, it has already broken the Rs. 600 crore mark in its first year of release in 2025. Although Netflix has not made an official announcement and there has been a marked increase in search volume for January 30.

Daldal

Prime Video’s Daldal brings the weekend lineup closer to a grittier and more earthy tone. Headed by Bhumi Pednekar, the show reworks Vish Dhamija’s Bhindi Bazaar into a complex crime drama. Directed by Amit Raj Gupta, it explores the realms of corruption, survival, and moral compromises in the Indian metropolis with Prime Video’s thriller originals in India boasting an average completion percentage of 68%, Daldal seems set to continue this trend.

Devkhel

Zee5’s Devkhel explores the psychological crime genre, set against the gloomy Konkan coast. This Marathi thriller focuses more on the psychological aspects of the crime rather than the external actions according to Zee5, the regional thriller genre has seen a 30% increase in viewership since 2024, and Devkhel is right in the middle of this growing genre.

Sarvam Maya

Where to Watch: JioHotstar

JioHotstar’s Sarvam Maya is set to offer a breezier, but also strangely creepy atmosphere with its supernatural comedy. It is headed by Nivin Pauly and developed by director Akhil Sathyan, this Malayalam-language film offers laughter and myth together and regional-language titles have accounted for almost 45% of the OTT viewing in India in the past year and initial buzz suggests that Sarvam Maya may appeal to more than just its core audience.

The 50 Show

When to Watch: From February 1, 2026 (Daily Episodes)

Where to Watch: JioHotstar

The week ends with the arrival of The 50 on JioCinema and Hotstar, as India’s version of the international reality format, Les Cinquante. Launching on February 1, the reality show takes place in a majestic palace where 50 celebrities compete with each other through carefully planned challenges, all of which are supervised by a masked game master. Reality shows have been contributing to almost a third of the OTT consumption in India, and The 50 is one of the most eagerly awaited launches of the season.
