Netflix has finally dropped the first trailer for the fifth and final season of Outer Banks which will give fans a glimpse at what lies ahead for the Pogues after the heartbreaking events of Season 4. The new season is set to premiere on August 20 and will bring the popular treasure-hunting saga to an end.
The trailer wastes no time reminding viewers that the stakes have never been higher. One of the most shocking moments sees John B. watching as Cleo blows up the group’s iconic van.

Outer Banks Season 5: JJ’s Death Leaves Group Shattered
Season 5 will pick up after the death of JJ in Morocco. The trailer makes it clear that grief will play a major role in the final season as John B., Sarah, Kiara, Pope and Cleo find themselves pushed to their limits.
The final moments of Season 4 also saw Kiara make her intentions clear with one word: revenge. Now, the Pogues are preparing to go after JJ’s killer, Chandler Groff, who remains on the run.
Outer Banks Season 5: Enemies Return
Chandler Groff is still out there while other dangerous forces continue to linger. More complications surround the Pogues as the group doesn’t even have a safe place to return home to.

The trailer hints at that gang is in Europe before eventually making their way back to the Outer Banks.
Scenes from the trailer show arrests, time behind bars and tense confrontations as the group struggles to stay together. Their return home will not be easy as new troubles wait for them the moment they arrive.

Fans can expect most of the core cast to return for one last adventure. Chase Stokes reprises his role as John B., alongside Madelyn Cline as Sarah, Madison Bailey as Kiara, Jonathan Daviss as Pope and Carlacia Grant as Cleo. Drew Starkey is also back as Rafe.
The final season also features J. Anthony Crane as Chandler Groff, the man responsible for JJ’s death. Other returning cast members include Austin North as Topper, Fiona Palomo as Sofia and Cullen Moss as Shoupe.
Season 5 marks the end of the journey created by Jonas Pate, Josh Pate and Shannon Burke. The trio, who have guided the series since its debut, are returning as writers and executive producers for the final installment.
