After spending years in release limbo, Pooja Meri Jaan starring Mrunal Thakur and Huma Qureshi is finally set to reach audiences. The thriller will stream on ZEE5. This brings an end to nearly four years of uncertainty surrounding its release. Although the platform has confirmed that the film is part of its upcoming slate, it is yet to announce an official premiere date.
Directed by Navjot Gulati and produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, Pooja Meri Jaan had completed production years ago but remained unreleased despite being ready for audiences.
Why Was Pooja Meri Jaan Delayed For Four Years?
The film was originally intended to premiere directly on JioCinema, as per reports. But after the platform merged with Disney+ Hotstar, the future of several projects became uncertain which included Pooja Meri Jaan.
As the release remained stalled, director Navjot Gulati later shared that the prolonged delay had taken both an emotional and professional toll on him. According to the filmmaker, one of the biggest reasons behind the film’s release issues was a disagreement over its valuation.
He alleged that the producers were unwilling to part with the film unless they received their expected price. Gulati also questioned why the makers did not consider a theatrical release especially when other OTT commissioned films eventually found their way to cinemas.
The director further revealed that the prolonged delay affected his career as he claimed that many potential collaborators became hesitant to work with him because his debut feature had still not been released despite being completed years earlier. He even expressed his willingness to buy back the rights to the film himself if the producers no longer wished to move ahead with it.
Earlier this year, Gulati also opened up about the deeply personal impact of the delay. He shared that his father, who passed away in 2024, spent the final months of his life repeatedly asking when Pooja Meri Jaan would finally be released.
The filmmaker also alleged that co-producer Amar Kaushik stopped responding to his calls and messages after October 2025.
What Is Pooja Meri Jaan About?
Pooja Meri Jaan is a thriller that revolves around stalking and cybercrime. The film stars Mrunal Thakur and Huma Qureshi in lead roles alongside Vikram Singh Chauhan and Vijay Raaz in pivotal parts. Niren Bhatt has contributed to the screenplay and dialogues.
The project wrapped filming and completed post production by the end of 2022.

The announcement came as ZEE5 unveiled its upcoming Hindi content slate. Alongside Pooja Meri Jaan, the streamer also introduced several new films and series such as Kambli, inspired by the life of former cricketer Vinod Kambli, The Scam: Leaked, Coffee King, Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai 2.0 hosted by R Madhavan and the revival of Zee Horror Show.
The platform’s film lineup also features titles such as Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, Bandar, Bharat Bhagya Vidhata, Sarvgunn Sampann, Ghamasaan, Ikroop and Dalimb.
