The Delhi High Court upheld Rajpal Yadav’s conviction in multiple cheque bounce cases related to the financing of his 2012 film Ata Pata Laapata. The actor had been accused of issuing dishonoured cheques worth nearly Rs 9 crore to a businessman who financed the film.
While the High Court reduced his sentence from six months to three months considering the passage of time, it upheld the conviction under the Negotiable Instruments Act and directed him to surrender. The court also ordered him to pay substantial compensation to the complainant, bringing one of Bollywood’s oldest financial disputes back into the spotlight.
Ranveer Singh
Ranveer Singh found himself at the centre of a major industry dispute after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a non-cooperation directive against him over his reported exit from Don 3. The producers alleged that his last-minute withdrawal caused losses of around Rs 45 crore in pre-production expenses, including location bookings, overseas schedules and logistics. Ranveer challenged the directive through a legal notice, following which the ban was later revoked.
Kangana Ranaut
Kangana Ranaut’s much-anticipated Queen 2 has reportedly remained stuck due to a legal dispute involving rights and production-related issues. Salman Khan recently moved the Delhi High Court against the makers of Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy, a film allegedly inspired by his 1998 blackbuck poaching case. The filmmakers, however, maintained that Kala Hiran is not a biopic and is based on information available in the public domain.

Prakash Raj recently came under legal scrutiny over issues linked to his passport documentation and verification process. He recently appeared before the 48th Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Court in Bengaluru in connection with a voter ID-related case after a non-bailable warrant was issued against him for allegedly failing to respond to court notices.
During the hearing, his lawyers argued that the summons had never been served and that they became aware of the proceedings only through media reports. Accepting the plea, the court recalled the non-bailable warrant and granted the actor bail on a cash surety of Rs 4,000.
