The wait is finally over for one of the most anticipated films of 2026. The teaser of Ranabaali has been unveiled which shows the first extended glimpse into Vijay Deverakonda’s intense period avatar and a story rooted in one of the most devastating chapters of colonial India.
Deverakonda introduced the teaser with a powerful caption: “#NeverForget The Men who came as guests and stayed as oppressors. The Men in our villages, who decided to draw blood. ‘The Savage’s Oath’.”
The teaser itself opens with the line, “In the memory of eight million Indian lives lost under British rule 1876-78.” From there, it takes viewers into the late 19th century and introduces a brutal world of oppression, resistance and survival.
Ranabaali Teaser: Vijay Deverakonda Gets A Fierce Period Makeover
Running for 2 minutes and 32 seconds, the teaser presents Vijay Deverakonda in a dramatically different avatar. He plays Singanamala Bobbili Ranabaali, a feared warrior from the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh who rises against British forces.
Vijay’s look is one of the immediate highlights of the teaser. Sporting a rugged, battle-ready appearance, the actor steps away from his contemporary image to embody a character shaped by violence, resistance and the harsh realities of his time.
The teaser portrays Ranabaali as a figure who has become feared by the British, while also positioning him as a symbol of defiance for the people around him.
Arnold Vosloo, The Mummy Actor, Joins Ranabaali As The Antagonist
Ranabaali also features a familiar Hollywood face. Arnold Vosloo, best known for playing the iconic Imhotep in The Mummy (1999) and The Mummy Returns (2001), takes on the role of Sir Theodore Hector in the upcoming period drama.
Rashmika Mandanna Plays Ranabaali’s Wife
Alongside Deverakonda, Rashmika Mandanna takes on the role of Jayamma, Ranabaali’s wife and a companion in his journey.
What Is Ranabaali About?
Set in the late 1800s, Ranabaali draws from a turbulent period in Indian history and is said to be inspired by the Madras Famine of 1876-1878.
The devastating famine affected vast parts of southern and western India and became one of the most tragic humanitarian crises of the colonial era.
