Popular singer Sabrina Carpenter has been ordered a temporary restraining order against a trespasser who has apparently tried to break into her home in Los Angeles on many occasions. As per reports from the courts, the artist explained that she found the occurrences terrifying and feared for her own safety. Carpenter is currently working on getting a permanent restraining order issued against William Applegate, who is 31 years old.
Alleged Attempt to Enter Carpenter’s Home
In a statement made to the court, Carpenter described an event that took place on May 23. As per the singer’s statement, Applegate initially entered another property adjacent to hers and after that, he violated the security protocols of her house. He further came to her front gate and tried to gain entry into her home by holding the gate handle tightly.
“It is abundantly clear to me that his actions were planned, premeditated, and highly threatening. This is one of the most frightening invasions of my personal safety and privacy I have ever endured,” wrote Carpenter in her statement. Carpenter also produced photos that she said were captured through her Ring security cameras.
Security Intervention and Further Concerns
In her statement, Carpenter stated that the man refused to go anywhere and actually went on to say that he knew her personally. “Then he made up the absurd lie that he knew me personally and that he was expected. This was a total fabrication.” It is said that Applegate was later arrested for his actions. But as far as Carpenter was concerned, things didn’t end here.
Repeated Visits Raise Alarm
In regards to this case, the singer reported that just a few days after the arrest, Applegate had come back to the place and stayed around her house for a number of hours. Additionally, according to her report, he came back the next day and parked his car close to the entrance of her property. Pictures of the car were attached to the legal papers too.
Carpenter wrote in regards to her experiences, “The entire situation created by Applegate’s behavior has caused me to feel extremely fearful for my personal safety.” Later on, she added, “The stalking, trespassing, and surveillance he conducted has caused me to experience intense emotional distress.”
Investigation Revealed Alleged Pattern of Behaviour
From the court papers, it seems that it is believed that the behavior may have started weeks before the incidents that occurred in May. From the court papers, it is clear that the security personnel were able to trace Applegate’s actions for at least up to April 20, 2026. As mentioned by Carpenter, there appeared to be “a clear and highly disturbing escalation pattern.”
A declaration by Detective Peter Doomanis of the Los Angeles Police Department was also presented in the case. According to him, “Applegate had developed a disturbing and irrational obsession with Carpenter.”
Court Issues Temporary Protection Order
Since then, a judge has issued a temporary restraining order in favor of Carpenter. The terms of this order stipulate that Applegate must keep his distance from the singer, from her home, car, place of employment, and various family members with whom she resides, including her sister and her sister’s boyfriend.
These legal measures are currently underway. Another hearing on the restraining order is set for June 17, but Applegate must also appear in criminal court on June 18, charged with criminal trespassing following the events of May. For the time being, the temporary restraining order still stands.
