Actor Sourabh Raaj Jain recently shared a kind of cryptic post on social media, and it showed his worry about the kind of content being pushed on reality television. People know him best for playing Lord Krishna in Mahabharat, so when he said he was told not to comment, it sounded like something “personal,” but he also clarified the whole thing had nothing to do with him professionally.

In an Instagram Story, Sourabh Raaj Jain strongly criticized the type of content being promoted on some reality shows in the quest for higher TRPs. Many shows are going over-the-top for entertainment, he said, and “sick,” “oppressive,” “inhuman,” and “sadistic” were all terms he used to describe such content. The actor also asked whether such content is aired by popular TV hosts and other industry professionals. He said that reality shows should consider what role they play as a role model for the viewers and the future generations and not compromise on basic human values for entertainment purposes.

After all these social media users assumed he was hinting about Lock Upp, Sourabh Raaj Jain quickly cleared the air via another Instagram Story. He basically pointed out that TRPs are used to measure television viewership, not OTT platforms, so please don’t misunderstand what he said. And, at the same time, he made it clear that his concern was bigger than just one show, or even just one platform. As per Sourabh, whether it’s television or OTT, entertainment should bring something meaningful, skill-driven, and creatively rich instead of going with what he called “regular nonsense” just to grab attention.
