As the iconic British girl group marks the 30th anniversary of their breakthrough hit Wannabe, the band has shared a mysterious message seemingly calling on fans who can “sing and dance.” And the timing has immediately raised questions about what the group could be planning.
The cryptic post appeared on the Spice Girls’ official Instagram account and features a newspaper advertisement from The Stage. The ad was placed on the very stairs that appeared in the music video for Wannabe.
What Did The Spice Girls’ Cryptic Ad Say?
The advert appears to deliberately recreate the style of the notice that helped kickstart the Spice Girls story back in 1994. It asks fans whether they have the ability to sing and dance and whether they consider themselves devoted followers, collectors or music lovers.
The message reads: “R U a Spice Girls fan with the ability to sing and dance? R U a superfan, a collector, a music lover?
“Spice Girls are a widely successful, global, choreographed, singing/dancing all female pop act with a record nine number ones in the UK and over 100 million global sales.”
It then gives fans a very specific date and time: “Thursday 10th September at 2 o’clock BST. No sheet music required. But you will need a vinyl or CD player.”
The group has not explained what the message is leading up to, leaving fans to speculate about whether it could be connected to their 30th anniversary celebrations.
Are The Spice Girls Reuniting?
For now, there is no official confirmation of a full Spice Girls reunion or tour. The group consists of Victoria Beckham, Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, Melanie Chisholm and Geri Halliwell-Horner, although the five have not performed together regularly in recent years.
The timing is nevertheless significant. Wannabe, which introduced the group to the world in 1996, turns 30 this year, making 2026 a major milestone for the band and its fans.
The Spice Girls have previously reunited for major occasions. They performed together at the 2012 London Olympics closing ceremony and later returned for the 2019 Spice World tour, although Victoria Beckham did not participate in the latter.

Earlier this year, Mel B herself fuelled hopes that the group could mark the anniversary in some way. Discussing the possibility of getting the band back together, she said: “It’s our 30th anniversary, I do think we should be doing something. Whether that actually happens or not is another story, but we’re all talking about it because if not anything, just for our fans. They’ve been so loyal and they’re just there all the time – even now 30 years on.
“For that we should be doing something, but I can’t say what that is right now, because nothing has been confirmed or signed off on.”
