The second trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day is finally here and while it gave fans plenty to talk about, one thing remains as mysterious as ever: Sadie Sink’s character. The Stranger Things star is nowhere to be seen in the latest footage but that hasn’t stopped Marvel fans from putting together theories.
In fact, the trailer may have added even more fuel to the biggest rumour surrounding Sink’s MCU debut.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day: Sadie Sink Playing Jean Grey?
Around the 58-second mark of the trailer, a massive concussive blast ripples across Manhattan. At first glance, it’s just another dramatic Marvel moment. But eagle-eyed fans noticed something interesting.
Marvel also teased it, stating, “First look at Sadie Sink’s character using her powers in ‘SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY’.”

Many viewers pointed out that the visual effect looks strikingly similar to the psychic energy blasts used by Jean Grey in the animated series X-Men: Evolution.

But is it definitive proof? Not exactly. But for fans already convinced Sink is playing the iconic mutant, it’s another clue in an ever-growing pile of evidence.
The Jean Grey Rumour Refuses To Go Away
Speculation about Sink’s role has been circulating ever since her casting was announced. Marvel and Sony have kept her character tightly under wraps but according to Geek Tyrant quoting industry insider Daniel Richtman recently claimed that Sink is indeed playing Jean Grey.
That would explain why Marvel is being so secretive.
After all, Jean Grey is one of the most important characters in X-Men history and a key figure in any future mutant storyline.
What Is Spider-Man: Brand New Day About?
The film picks up after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home with Peter Parker living in a world that no longer remembers who he is. As he throws himself fully into life as Spider-Man, Peter begins experiencing strange new mutations, including the emergence of organic webbing.
To understand what is happening, he turns to Bruce Banner, played by Mark Ruffalo, for answers. But Peter’s transformation may also be tied to a mysterious new threat lurking in New York City: a villain so unusual that people can’t even see them.
Whether Sink is secretly Jean Grey, another mutant or someone completely unexpected, Marvel clearly isn’t ready to show its hand just yet. But with every new trailer, fans become a little more convinced that the MCU’s future mutant queen is hiding in plain sight.
