Sydney Sweeney has once again found herself at the centre of a conversation about her body and appearance after her latest bold advertisement sparked debate online. The actress recently collaborated with Novig for its Just Sports campaign, appearing nude in the advertisement. A glimpse of the campaign shared on social media quickly drew reactions from critics, with many questioning the choice. But this is hardly the first time Sweeney’s appearance has become a talking point.

For years, the Euphoria star has faced speculation about whether she has undergone plastic surgery, particularly breast augmentation. At one point, the actress even addressed the question during a lie-detector test.

What Did Sydney Sweeney Say About Her Breast Surgery Rumours?

During a lie-detector test last year, Sweeney’s The Housemaid co-star Amanda Seyfried asked her a very direct question: “Are your boobs real?” Sweeney answered yes. Seyfried then asked whether the actress had undergone any work on her bust. Sweeney denied it, saying, “No, I’ve never gotten any work done anywhere.”

The polygraph examiner subsequently said that Sweeney’s answer was truthful. The moment attracted renewed attention because speculation about Sweeney’s appearance has followed her throughout her career.

Sweeney has previously said that she has never undergone cosmetic work and has spoken about being scared of needles.

Did Sydney Sweeney Ever Consider Getting A Boob Job?

Interestingly, Sweeney herself revealed in 2023 that she had once considered having breast reduction surgery. The actress recalled feeling uncomfortable about the size of her breasts and said she had planned to undergo the procedure after turning 18. Her mother, however, advised her against it.

Sweeney later said she was glad she listened to her mother, explaining how her feelings about her body eventually changed. To quote the actress: “I used to feel uncomfortable about how big my boobs were. I used to say that when I turned 18, I was going to get a boob job to make them smaller. My mom told me, ‘Don’t do it. You’ll regret it in college.’ And I’m so glad I didn’t. I like them. They’re my best friends. Everybody’s body is beautiful. When you are confident and you’re happy within is when it really shows to other people.”

Why Does Sydney Sweeney Keep Facing Questions About Her Appearance?

Sweeney entered Hollywood while still in her mid-teens and has previously recalled being told that she should get her face “fixed”, including suggestions that she consider Botox. As her career grew, so did the scrutiny around her appearance.

Her role as Cassie Howard in Euphoria also brought intense attention because of the show’s intimate and nude scenes. Sweeney has defended those scenes by explaining that she does not feel particularly nervous about them because she feels a responsibility toward the character she is portraying.

In an interview with W Magazine, she described the female body as a “powerful thing.” At the same time, Sweeney has spoken about the double standards faced by actresses who appear nude on screen. She pointed out that male actors can take on roles involving nudity without necessarily facing the same level of criticism, while actresses can become targets for bullies and trolls.

Why Is Sydney Sweeney’s Bold Ad Sparking Debate Now?

The latest conversation began after Sweeney appeared nude in Novig’s Just Sports campaign. The advertisement has reignited discussions around the actress’s body and the choices she makes with her image. Sweeney has not, as of now, publicly responded to the criticism surrounding the campaign.
