The entertainment behemoth Eros International has launched an ambitious new strategy based on three key ideas through its R&D subsidiary, Eros Innovation. They are Eros Brahmand, which draws inspiration from the myths of the region to create a cinematic universe; Eros Universe, which takes India’s most legendary films and expands them into franchises; and Eros Remastered, which focuses on bringing classic films back to life in modern form. The launch took place on Wednesday in London Tech Week.
Popular Films Set for Franchise Expansion
As part of the Eros Universe, a total of six famous movies are scheduled to get revamped versions with more interesting storylines, characters, and plots. These movies include Tanu Weds Manu – The Next Chapter, Phobia, English Vinglish, Desi Boyz, Rangeela, and Tere Naam.
Though these movies will definitely draw inspiration from the originals, it is expected that they would not continue from where the previous movie ends with the original characters. For example, while a spiritual remake of Tere Naam is in the offing, chances are slim for Salman Khan to play the role of Radhe again. On the other hand, there might be a sequel of Rangeela without the presence of actors Aamir Khan and Urmila Matondkar, says HT.
Launched in 1995, Rangeela, which starred Aamir Khan and Urmila Matondkar and directed by Ram Gopal Varma, became a cultural phenomenon and helped establish Urmila Matondkar as a national heroine. Tere Naam, launched in 2003, directed by Satish Kaushik, saw Salman Khan giving a much appreciated performance and proved commercially successful.
One of the projects that have raised the most interest among those mentioned in the announcement list is Tanu Weds Manu – The Next Chapter. Both the first two movies were starring Kangana Ranaut and R. Madhavan in the roles of the titular characters, however, there is no word about their participation in the new version. The film will be directed by Mitakshara Kumar, who was known for directing Heeramandi and The Empire, and produced together with Rudrak Soma Jyoti Limited. The shooting is scheduled for 2026.
Other titles include English Vinglish that featured the late Sridevi in its main role, Desi Boyz, starring Akshay Kumar and John Abraham, and Phobia, a 2016 psychological thriller starring Radhika Apte.
As stated by Eros, these franchises will go beyond feature films, including animation, micro dramas, and character-related stories featuring popular IP characters.
Eros Brahmand: A New Mythology-Inspired Universe
Eros Brahmand tops the list, which consists of a cinematic universe powered by artificial intelligence based on Indian mythology. According to HT news reports, the grand slate will include nine original films, including:

Vimaan Wars
Mahabharat 5000 A.D.
Yakshinis
Brahmarakshak
Garuda
Kumbhayanna
Mansa Devi
All of these ventures will help develop a story world, which would comprise mythical, fictional, and futuristic elements, making them interesting for today’s audiences. Commenting on the idea behind these ventures, Kishore Lulla, founder and chairman of Eros Innovation, has said, “We want to integrate our original, mythically inspired stories, as well as our iconic and classic films under one brand name. These stories should be such that can engage future generations of audiences.”
Reviving Classics Through Eros Remastered
The third initiative by the company called Eros Remastered will be concerned with restoration and reinvention of iconic movies in their portfolio. In this regard, the movie that will lead the way will be the movie “Kochadaiiyaan,” which is India’s first computer generated imagery movie featuring Rajinikanth.
The movie will go through the process of restoration and reinvention, under the guidance of Soundarya Rajinikanth, who is the daughter of Rajinikanth. With the use of the three-step approach, Eros is gearing up to capitalize on nostalgia, mythology, and contemporary story formats.
