The Boys, the most celebrated show on Amazon Prime Video for five years of blood and bone and dark comedy and superhero parodies, is finally reaching its climactic ending. After the global debut of Season 5 Episode 8 titled Blood and Bone, the social media platforms have been swarmed with responses ranging from praise to shock.

The finale has been hailed as a lesson in how to craft a perfect TV show with an emotional end to the story. Many fans have also appreciated the final resolution of the battle between Butcher and Homelander, although their favorite character, Frenchie’s, demise was very tragic. However, Antony Starr’s portrayal of Homelander has been one of the most memorable things in the episode.

Does Homelander Finally Fall?

The main issue that revolved around the finale was whether or not Homelander would ultimately be beaten, and whether the story would end up in a cliffhanger. All these issues have been addressed in this final episode of the show.

Kimiko Struggles With Frenchie’s Death

The sudden death of Frenchie in the previous episode led to widespread discussion amongst the viewers, and the effect is evident even in the final episode. Kimiko seems to be strongly influenced by the loss, showing hints of an emotionally dangerous change.

With her being gripped by sadness, Butcher starts becoming apprehensive regarding who she might turn into should she lose control due to her anger. Yet, Frenchie makes an appearance in one of Kimiko’s visions, reminding her of her inner strength.

The Boys Launch Their Final Mission

While this happens, Homelander starts implementing his plans for creating a new reality, addressing the people in his speech. Meanwhile, the Boys attack the White House in an effort to prevent that from happening.

To the Boys’ surprise, Ashley turns out to be helpful to them and lets the team divide and start executing the last part of their plan. While Mother’s Milk and Hughie kill Oh-Father, Starlight defeats The Deep, who explodes in the end.

Homelander Meets His End

However, while he continues to speak to the nation, he starts losing control, and his true self is finally revealed to the world.

During the epic fight, Butcher, Kimiko, and Ryan finally team up against him. The MVP of this epic fight is actually Kimiko, who causes an explosion which removes the powers from all the Supes, including Homelander.

Butcher finally has the chance to get rid of the villain once and for all.

Butcher’s Final Sacrifice

While the demise of Homelander concludes the primary confrontation, there are more emotional surprises remaining in the finale.

Ashley accepts responsibility for what the Boys have done, whereas Butcher makes an attempt at convincing Ryan to come with him as family, but he rejects it.

Butcher fears that Vought would remain corrupt, so he tries to do one final act of desperation, which is spreading the virus via the sprinklers at Vought headquarters. Before he can accomplish this, Hughie steps in.

Soon enough, Butcher gets fatally shot, concluding his long and brutal saga.

A Bittersweet Ending for the Survivors

Emotional goodbyes and a glimpse of hope for the remaining survivors mark the conclusion of the series.

Ryan departs along with Mother’s Milk, while Kimiko goes off to France in remembrance of Frenchie. The role of President is reclaimed by Singer, indicating a tentative return to normalcy.

Hughie finally finds peace in his relationship with Annie, who is pregnant with his baby girl, having endured a lot of trauma and loss for many years. In an emotional conclusion, the duo decide to call their daughter by the name of Hughie’s previous girlfriend.
