Calling all Disney Channel fans! One of the network’s most iconic franchises is making a comeback. But this time, it is passing the mic to a brand-new generation. Disney has officially greenlit The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen.
The reboot will bring back familiar faces while introducing a new group of young stars to carry the legacy forward. The movie will premiere on Disney Channel and Disney+.
The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen – Raven-Symoné And Adrienne Bailon Are Back
Fans will once again see Raven-Symoné step into the role of Galleria while Adrienne Bailon returns as Chanel. Sabrina Bryan is also set to make a special appearance as Dorinda which will return three members of the original Cheetah Girls.
Lynn Whitfield and Lori Alter are also returning as Dorothea and Juanita, respectively.
The only original member not attached to the project is Kiely Williams, who played Aqua. Disney has not announced her involvement in The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen.
Raven-Symoné also shared an exciting update on Instagram and gave fans a glimpse of her journey to South Africa where The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen is set to begin production.
In the video, she is seen strolling through the streets while soaking in the local surroundings.
The overlay text on the clip read, “POV: strutting to the next gen of The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen.”
In the caption, she wrote, “It’s happening, and it’s CHEETAHLISHIOUS!”
Meet The Next Generation Of Cheetah Girls
While familiar faces are returning, the spotlight will largely shine on a new team of performers. Percy Jackson and the Olympians star Leah Sava’ Jeffries has been cast as Faith, Galleria’s daughter who becomes part of the franchise’s next chapter.
Joining her are Carmen Sanchez as Dior, Chanel’s younger sister, Kaileen Chang as Ruby, Sophie Lennon as Brooklyn and newcomer Kamogelo Ramashala as Kendi.
Sophia Bush is also joining the cast in the role of Jennifré.

What’s The Story This Time?
Instead of revisiting old storylines, The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen introduces a fresh adventure.
The film follows Galleria and Chanel as they travel to Africa alongside Faith and her three friends to volunteer at a wildlife sanctuary. During the trip, the four teenagers will discover their confidence and work together to protect the wildlife preserve. Their journey eventually leads them to embrace the spirit of the Cheetah Girls by forming a brand-new group.
Production is scheduled to begin later this month in South Africa, Variety reported.
The Original Team Is Helping Bring It Back
Disney isn’t just bringing back the cast. Several key creatives from the original franchise are also returning.
Executive producer Debra Martin Chase is back for the new film while Raven-Symoné will also serve as an executive producer. Adrienne Bailon has joined the project as a co-producer.
Bille Woodruff, who directed previous Cheetah Girls films, returns to direct Next Gen. Choreographer Kyle Hanagami will oversee the musical performances, while Kara Holden, Sarah Watson and Deborah Swisher have penned the screenplay.
How The Cheetah Girls Became A Disney Phenomenon
The Cheetah Girls franchise began as a series of bestselling books by Deborah Gregory before Disney turned it into a hit Disney Channel Original Movie in 2003. The film became an instant favourite and led to two sequels.
