Christopher Nolan has arrived in Mumbai, marking a historic moment for Indian moviegoers. The Oscar-winning filmmaker landed in the city on Thursday ahead of The Odyssey’s India premiere, making it the first Nolan film to hold an official premiere event in the country.
Joining him is Tom Holland, who was also spotted arriving in Mumbai. Paparazzi videos showed the actor landing at the airport before heading to the iconic Taj Mahal Palace hotel, where he greeted photographers with a wave.
Nolan was accompanied by his wife and longtime producing partner, Emma Thomas. Reports also suggest that The Odyssey lead star Matt Damon is expected to join the promotional event soon.
Will Zendaya, Matt Damon Attend The Odyssey Premiere?
As of now, only Christopher Nolan, Emma Thomas and Tom Holland have been publicly spotted in Mumbai. Matt Damon is reportedly expected to arrive shortly. However, there has been no official confirmation about whether Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron or any other cast members will attend the India premiere.
The makers have not announced the complete guest list, so fans will have to wait for an official update.
The Odyssey India Premiere
The Odyssey is the first Christopher Nolan film to hold an official premiere in India. The Mumbai event, scheduled for July 10 and 11, is part of the film’s global promotional tour ahead of its worldwide theatrical release on July 17.
Nolan and the cast are expected to interact with the media and take part in promotional activities during their visit.
The Odyssey’s Advance Bookings
The excitement around The Odyssey has already translated into record-breaking advance bookings. IMAX tickets went on sale nearly a month before release, with premium-priced shows in cities like Mumbai and Delhi selling out quickly. Some tickets were priced as high as Rs 3,300, highlighting the huge anticipation surrounding Nolan’s latest epic.
Speaking about the growing excitement, Nolan earlier told AP, “The audience tells you what it is. And that means that for us, this is an exciting moment, but a very frightening moment, because it’s real. There’s nothing to hide behind. We made this film for a theatrical audience, and it goes out in the world as that. And we’ll see what the world makes of it.”
