Tom Holland has scored another massive box office success with Spider Man: Brand New Day. The Marvel film has officially crossed the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office in just six days which makes it one of the fastest movies in history to achieve the feat.
The superhero blockbuster has stormed past the milestone at a remarkable pace and outperformed several of this year’s biggest releases including Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. Holland plays a key role in both films which makes the achievement even more notable.
Spider Man: Brand New Day Joins Exclusive Box Office Club
According to box office figures, Spider Man: Brand New Day has become only the second film ever to reach $1 billion worldwide this quickly. The only movie to achieve the milestone in less time remains 2019’s Avengers: Endgame which crossed the mark during its opening weekend.
The film has earned $407 million in North America after just four days in theatres. It also recorded the biggest Monday in box office history by collecting $47 million in a single day and surpassing the previous record of $40 million set by Black Panther in 2018.
Internationally, the Marvel film has added another $645.8 million which took its worldwide total beyond the $1 billion milestone in less than a week.
Tom Holland’s Marvel Blockbuster Overtakes The Odyssey
The achievement is even more significant because it comes just weeks after the release of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, another major film featuring Holland.
Released two weeks before Spider Man: Brand New Day, The Odyssey opened to a strong $260 million worldwide and had already crossed $800 million globally by the time Marvel’s latest Spider Man film arrived in cinemas.
But despite its impressive run, Nolan’s epic could not reach the billion dollar mark before Brand New Day. As of Monday, The Odyssey has earned $923 million worldwide while Spider Man: Brand New Day has already crossed $1 billion after only six days on release.
The Marvel film has also moved ahead of the lifetime worldwide collections of several recent releases including Michael ($1.016 billion), The Super Mario Galaxy Movie ($1.011 billion), The Devil Wears Prada 2 ($691 million) and Project Hail Mary ($684 million).
IMAX Changes Strategy After Spider Man: Brand New Day’s Massive Opening
The extraordinary demand for Spider Man: Brand New Day has also led to a change in IMAX’s exhibition plans. Following the film’s record-breaking opening, IMAX announced that it will now split its screens between Spider Man: Brand New Day and The Odyssey.
The success also gives Marvel Studios fresh momentum ahead of the release of Avengers: Doomsday, one of the studio’s biggest upcoming projects.
2026 Continues Hollywood’s Billion Dollar Streak
The latest milestone adds to what has already become one of Hollywood’s strongest box office years since the pandemic.
Several films have crossed the billion dollar mark in 2026 which signals a continued recovery for the theatrical business. Before the pandemic, 2019 held the record with nine billion-dollar films worldwide. In the years that followed, no single year produced more than three movies that reached the milestone.
With Spider Man: Brand New Day now joining the billion-dollar club in record time, 2026 has continued that upward trend.
