Toxic Box Office Collection: Yash, Kiara Advani’s Film Earns Just Rs 3.16 Lakh In A Week From English Version, Not Even Enough To Beat Apple’s Rs 4.49 Lakh iPhone Duo Top Model Price Tag

Toxic arrived with Yash’s star power, a big pan-India release and plenty of pre-release buzz. While the film has crossed Rs 300 crore worldwide, its theatrical performance has fallen well short of the massive expectations surrounding it.

Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown-Ups has landed in one seriously bizarre box-office comparison. The film’s English version collected just Rs 3.16 lakh in its entire first week, while Apple’s newly launched iPhone Duo 2TB costs Rs 4,49,900 in India. This means that a film reportedly made on a massive Rs 600 crore budget has seen a far more disappointing box-office run than expected.

Toxic arrived with Yash’s star power, a big pan-India release and plenty of pre-release buzz. While the film has crossed Rs 300 crore worldwide, its theatrical performance has fallen well short of the massive expectations surrounding it. Negative reviews and poor word of mouth hit the film hard after its opening, and the delayed English version has now become the most dramatic example of that struggle.

Yash’s Toxic English Version Collects Just Rs 3.16 Lakh In Week 1

The English version of Toxic arrived in theatres on September 4, almost 10 days after the film’s Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam versions opened on August 26.

The response was extremely weak right from day one. According to Bollywood Hungama, the English version earned Rs 1,38,295 on Friday from just 11 shows across Mumbai, Bengaluru, Gurugram and Noida. Saturday dropped to Rs 78,774 and Sunday brought in Rs 70,460.

Then came the weekday crash.

Monday contributed only Rs 15,034, while Tuesday was the real shocker: the film made just Rs 3,125. Wednesday saw a tiny recovery with Rs 5,699, followed by Rs 4,655 on Thursday.

That brought the seven-day total to exactly Rs 3,16,042. With barely any audience showing up, the English version was discontinued from theatres from September 11.

Toxic’s Rs 3.16 Lakh vs iPhone Duo Rs 4.49 Lakh Price

Now for the comparison that makes this box-office figure look even crazier. Apple unveiled its first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, at its September 9 event. The device starts at Rs 2,99,900 for the 256GB version, while the top-end 2TB variant costs Rs 4,49,900 in India.

Toxic’s English version, meanwhile, earned Rs 3,16,042 across an entire week.

That means the 2TB iPhone Duo costs Rs 1,33,858 more than the English version’s complete first-week collection.

Toxic Has Crossed Rs 300 Crore Worldwide

Before anyone mistakes the English version’s performance for the film’s overall collection, there is an important distinction here.

Toxic has crossed the Rs 300 crore mark worldwide. The film had reached around Rs 331 crore worldwide, with its India net collection around Rs 241.05 crore at that stage.

What Went Wrong With Toxic?

Toxic had plenty going for it before release. Yash led the film alongside Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Tara Sutaria and Huma Qureshi. The project had been generating curiosity for months and the pan-India release was expected to bring audiences across multiple language markets.

The opening was strong too. But the buzz did not last. After the initial response, mixed-to-negative reviews and poor word of mouth started hurting the film.
