And he’s finally back. Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown Ups has finally arrived with its much-awaited trailer and indubitably managed to get everyone talking. Released on August 8, the nearly five-minute trailer gives a glimpse into Yash’s mysterious character Raya and the wild, violent world he inhabits.
But while the scale and action have caught attention, one comparison keeps popping up: KGF.
‘Toxic Looks Like A KGF Clone’
The KGF comparisons began almost immediately after the trailer dropped with some viewers feeling that Yash’s new character is not too far removed from Rocky Bhai.
Film critic Vishwajit Patil said, “Let’s be honest: #Toxic looks exactly like a cheap KGF clone wrapped in a slightly different aesthetic. The #ToxicTheMovie trailer drops zero hints about what makes Raya any different from Rocky Bhai, showing the same alpha-male formula. #Yash. Even with a massive ensemble cast like Nayanthara and Kiara Advani, the trailer reduces everyone to brief background cutaways just to keep the spotlight on Yash’s beard and attitude. It’s predictable, outdated, and underwhelming for a pan-Indian film in 2026.”

Another viewer was even more direct, saying, “#Toxictrailer felt like a parody of KGF 2. Yash still hasn’t moved on from the KGF franchise. And the way it glorifies women through such a cheap, objectifying lens is even more disappointing.”

‘KGF Wasn’t Just A Movie’
Not everyone felt the trailer was outright bad but some viewers questioned whether Toxic could create the same magic as KGF.
“I have a strong gut feeling after watching the Toxic trailer… It’s not that it looks bad. It just doesn’t feel like it has that lightning-in-a-bottle magic that made KGF a phenomenon. KGF wasn’t just a movie. It was a cult classic. I hope I’m completely wrong, because Indian cinema always wins when big films overdeliver,” someone else said.

Fans Spot KGF-Like Dialogues In Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown Ups’ Trailer
The comparisons have also extended to the dialogues. One viewer pointed out similarities between lines from Toxic and KGF, writing, “Some dialogues of #Toxic are similar to the KGF … Tujhe is Seher p Raaj karna h Vs Tujhe is duniya p Raaj karna h Meri city main aakar mujhe hath lagaya Same in the KGF when came to Bengaluru from Mumbai.”

Another viewer was far harsher in their assessment, calling it “Another chapri trailer from the South industry.” The person also felt that the story once again appeared to revolve around a mother and son, similar to KGF, and questioned why the nearly five-minute trailer still did not make the story clear.

Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown Ups Has A Big Star Cast
Despite the mixed reactions, Toxic certainly has plenty of star power. Yash leads the film alongside Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi and Tara Sutaria.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown Ups is scheduled to release in theatres worldwide on August 26, 2026.
