The full-length trailer for Verity is finally here and Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson are entering a world where nothing is quite what it seems. Based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling 2018 novel of the same name, the upcoming psychological thriller takes viewers into a remote estate filled with secrets, complicated relationships and revelations that could completely change what they believe about the characters.
Directed by Michael Showalter, Verity stars Hathaway as the famous author Verity Crawford while Johnson plays Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer who gets an unusual opportunity that soon turns into something far more disturbing. Josh Hartnett plays Verity’s husband Jeremy Crawford.
What Happens In The Verity Trailer?
The trailer introduces Lowen as a struggling novelist who is approached with a rather unusual writing assignment. Jeremy wants her to complete his wife Verity’s autobiography while Verity is unable to do so herself following an accident and a peculiar health condition.
Lowen travels to the isolated Crawford estate and begins working on the book. But the job takes a disturbing turn when she discovers what appears to be Verity’s private autobiographical writing.
What she finds inside those pages is far more troubling than anything she expected.
The notes contain disturbing accounts that involves Verity’s relationship with Jeremy and reveal secrets that make Lowen question just how much she actually knows about the family she has entered. As she continues reading, the line between what is real and what may simply be fiction becomes increasingly difficult to understand.
The tagline sets up the mood perfectly: “A writer’s words should be honest, bloody, and a little bit terrifying.”
The trailer ends on another chilling note, with Hathaway’s Verity warning, “This is your final warning: only darkness ahead.”
The cast also includes Ismael Cruz Córdova, Brady Wagner, Irina Dvorovenko, K.K. Moggie and Michael Abbott Jr.
Who Directed Verity?
Verity is directed by Michael Showalter, with the screenplay adapted from Colleen Hoover’s novel.
The film is set to arrive in cinemas on October 2, 2026.
Anne Hathaway’s Verity Another Major Project
The film is one of several major projects featuring Hathaway this year. Her 2026 slate includes Mother Mary, The Devil Wears Prada 2, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey and The End Of Oak Street, which is scheduled to release on August 14.
With Verity, Hathaway moves into another very different role.
