After the blockbuster success of Karuppu, Suriya is returning with a completely different avatar in Vishwanath and Sons. The makers unveiled the trailer of the Venky Atluri directorial on Friday, offering a glimpse into an emotional family drama that blends love, ambition, sacrifice and second chances. Also starring Mamitha Baiju, Radhika Sarathkumar and Raveena Tandon, the film is set to release in theatres on August 14, 2026.
What Is Vishwanath And Sons About?
The trailer introduces Sanjay Vishwanath, played by Suriya, an international pistol shooter who continues to pursue his dreams well into his 40s. Despite his successful career and privileged life, Sanjay faces an emotional crisis when his son requires a bone marrow transplant.
As he embarks on a desperate search for a suitable donor, his journey takes him overseas, where he crosses paths with Maddy, played by Mamitha Baiju. Her arrival changes his life in unexpected ways, especially after she openly expresses her feelings for him.
The trailer hints at an age-gap romance while balancing heartfelt family moments, emotional conflicts and light-hearted humour, promising a wholesome entertainer.

Suriya Opens Up About Love And Relationships
At the film’s promotional event, Suriya spoke about the idea of lasting love, echoing the themes explored in Vishwanath and Sons.
“I think love should be everlasting. It is not something that should be felt when you tie the knot, but you should love every single day. Even if you spend 20 years with someone, you should love. You should keep on loving your partner. You should always be respectful,” the actor said.
Reflecting on how people evolve with time, he added, “Everybody changes, we do and so will our partner. Your priorities are different at the age of 20, 25, or 30. Your thinking might change, your life can take any direction. But the love and affection you have for your partner should never change.”
Vishwanath And Sons Release Date
Directed by Venky Atluri, Vishwanath and Sons is produced by Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas, with Srikara Studios presenting the film. The music has been composed by GV Prakash Kumar, while Nimish Ravi serves as the cinematographer.
The family drama is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on August 14, 2026. It will face a box-office clash with Sunny Deol’s Batwara 1947 and Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2, making Independence Day weekend one of the biggest theatrical battles of the year.
