Kriti Kharbanda has been working since she was a teenager and her journey in the entertainment industry has also shaped the way she looks at money, independence and her future. At the We Women Want Conclave & Shakti Awards 2026, the actress opened up about becoming financially independent at a young age and why she is now focused on building a stronger financial future for herself.
Kriti revealed that she was just 15 when she stopped asking her parents for money.
Why Did Kriti Kharbanda Start Focusing On Financial Independence?
Kriti’s early entry into the entertainment industry meant that she had to learn about responsibility and independence much earlier than many people her age.
She began working as a teenager and, according to her, had already made the decision to stop depending on her parents financially by the time she was 15. She was 17 when she officially started working while she was still pursuing her undergraduate education. She said, “I was 17 when I started working and I was an undergraduate. It was the age of 15 when I stopped asking for money from my parents.”
Now, years into her career, Kriti is taking that interest in independence a step further. She revealed that she is currently studying geopolitics and financial independence, while also working on building her own investment portfolio.
Kriti Kharbanda On Building Her Own Portfolio
Kriti also spoke about her plans to become more financially informed rather than simply relying on her acting career. “I am building my own portfolio now,” she said.
The actress has been part of the entertainment industry for several years, appearing in Hindi, Kannada and Telugu films. Her filmography includes Housefull 4, Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana, Veere Ki Wedding and Pagalpanti, among others.
However, her plans for the future go beyond acting. Kriti has also revealed that she is “trying my hands at production”, signalling another new direction in her professional journey.

Kriti is also looking at expanding her career beyond acting. Speaking about what she wants to explore next, the actress said, “I am trying my hands at production.” With her focus now extending to financial planning as well as the creative side of filmmaking, Kriti appears to be consciously building a career that gives her greater independence both personally and professionally.
From entering the industry at a young age to taking charge of her finances and exploring production, Kriti appears to be thinking about a career that extends beyond simply being in front of the camera.
