Actor Ayesha Khan, who grabbed attention with her special song Shararat in Dhurandhar, has shared her account of being detained by Mumbai Police during a student protest. The actress took to Instagram and posted a video explaining what happened when she reached Dadar to show support for the demonstrations.
According to Ayesha, she was detained before she could even participate in the protest or raise any slogans.
What Happened When Ayesha Khan Reached Dadar?
Ayesha said she arrived at the protest site around 4 PM along with some of her friends. She claimed that before she could say anything or participate in the demonstration, a police officer told her that she could not protest at that location.
Ayesha said she questioned the officer and asked, “Bata dijiye dusra aur kya raasta hain (Please tell us what is the other option)?” She claimed that instead of receiving an answer, police personnel started asking her and her friends to enter a van.
Ayesha Khan ‘Forcefully’ Taken Inside Police Van
Sharing details of the incident, Ayesha said she was pulled by several women police officers. She said, “I was pulled by 4-5 women. I used all my strength to try not getting into the van but they pulled us in.”
The actress further claimed that she and her friends kept asking why they were being detained but did not receive any explanation. “Poorey van mein hum poochte rahein ki aap ne humein kyu detain kiya hain? Humne galti kya kiya hain? No answer, no accountability, nothing. Kisi ne koi jawab nahi diya aur humein Dadar se door Worli lekar aaye.”
Ayesha Khan Questions Reason Behind Her Detention
Ayesha said that police officers at Worli treated them respectfully but she still wanted an answer about why they were detained in the first place. The actress questioned what law she had broken and why citizens were being stopped from peacefully expressing themselves.
In another Instagram post, she shared a video showing the alleged detention and wrote, “Dragged, detained for standing in peace. Asked questions to all the police people present there on why were we being detained? But no answer whatsoever! Sadak pe khade rehna kabse crime ho Gaya?”
She added, “Today will be the most peaceful sleep of my life. I stood for what was right! Still in the police station asking the same question! Why am I detained? Which law did I break?”
Why Are Protests Taking Place In Mumbai?
The protests that Ayesha attended are part of demonstrations that began in Delhi and later spread to other cities. The protests were reportedly linked to demands raised by students and protesters, with demonstrations taking place at multiple locations.
In Mumbai, protests were held at places including Shivaji Park near Chaityabhoomi. Some protesters claimed that they were stopped or detained before reaching the protest locations.
