If there was one major complaint about Season 2 of HBO’s House of the Dragon, it was Daemon Targaryen who spent much of his time trapped in visions and haunted by ghosts of the past. Even Matt Smith knows fans have been waiting to see a different side of the rogue prince and according to  him, that wait will be finally over in the Season 3.

“He’s back in the belly of the beast,” Smith said during a conversation on Today. He teased a far more aggressive and battle-ready Daemon this season.

“He has got his sword in his hand, blood on his soul. Back fighting wars and back doing what he does.” In short, expect less wandering through Harrenhal and more chaos with more dragons.

House Of The Dragon Season 3: Two Huge Battles Are Coming

Smith also promised that Season 3 will deliver on the action front as he “two absolute, splendid battles” will highlight the upcoming season. That should be welcome news for viewers who felt the previous season spent more time positioning pieces on the board than actually letting them clash.

House Of The Dragon Season 3: The Battle Of The Gullet Finally Arrives

After being teased and anticipated for two seasons, the Battle of the Gullet is finally set to explode onto screens, as per reports. One of the most important events from George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, the massive naval showdown between Team Black and Team Green is expected to feature in the season premiere itself.

The battle is widely considered a turning point in the Targaryen civil war and could dramatically reshape the balance of power heading into the rest of the season.

House Of The Dragon Season 3: Alicent And Rhaenyra’s Complicated Reunion

While dragons and warfare remain at the heart of the story, the emotional conflict between Alicent Hightower and Rhaenyra Targaryen continues to be one of the show’s strongest elements.

Olivia Cooke recently teased that the relationship between the former friends remains deeply complicated.

“When they’re together, it’s like a flashback to their childhood,” Cooke told Radio Times.

“They’re sort of frozen in amber, but also so much has happened, there’s so much pain there, and betrayal.”

With both women carrying years of resentment, grief and political baggage, their interactions could be just as explosive as the battles themselves.
