Veteran actor and comedian Faizon Love has made headlines after reports emerged that he was arrested in Hillsborough County, Florida, on Tuesday. The 58-year-old was booked into a jail in Tampa on two contempt-of-court charges, TMZ reported.
A mugshot released following the arrest showed the actor looking directly at the camera with a neutral expression. The arrest is reportedly connected to a paternity case that Love has been linked to.
This is not the first time the comedian has faced legal trouble. In 2017, he was arrested after allegedly assaulting a valet at an airport in Columbus, Ohio. Following the incident, Love claimed that he became physical after the valet spat on him. He later received a 180-day suspended sentence in the case.
Who Is Faizon Love?
Born Langston Faizon Santisima, Faizon Love is a Cuban-born American actor and comedian known for his memorable performances in several popular comedy films. He began performing stand-up comedy when he was just 15 years old and gradually built a career across television, movies and voice acting.
One of Love’s most famous roles came in the 1995 cult comedy Friday where he played Big Worm, a drug dealer whose appearance and personality made the character unforgettable among fans of the film. The role remains one of the most recognised performances of his career.
Love also appeared in the 2003 Christmas comedy Elf where he starred alongside Will Ferrell. In the film, he played Wanda, the manager of the toy department at the Gimbels department store. The holiday classic continues to attract new audiences every year.
In 2009, he starred in Couples Retreat where he portrayed Shane, one of the vacationing friends who participates in relationship therapy sessions at a tropical resort. The film featured an ensemble cast and became another notable entry in his filmography.
Over the years, Love has also appeared in several other films like The Meteor Man (1993), Don’t Be a Menace (1996), The Replacements (2000), Made (2001) and Blue Crush (2002).
On television, he was known for playing Wendell Wilcox on the sitcom The Parent ‘Hood which aired from 1995 to 1999. Beyond live-action roles, Love also found success in voice acting. Many gamers recognise him as the voice of Sean “Sweet” Johnson in the popular video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, released in 2004.
