The announcement came alongside two other major casting updates, with Bonnie Hill joining as Ginny Weasley and Billy Barratt taking on the role of Tom Riddle.
Season 2 will adapt Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the second book in J.K. Rowling’s fantasy series. While Season 1 has yet to premiere, HBO has already begun preparing for the next chapter at Leavesden Studios outside London.

He has also appeared in projects including Doctor Who and Enola Holmes 2. His growing list of credits now includes one of the biggest fantasy franchises in entertainment.
Who Is Lenny Rush Playing In Harry Potter?
Dobby is the loyal house-elf who is introduced in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. He plays an important role in Harry’s second year at Hogwarts and becomes closely connected to the young wizard. In the original Harry Potter films, Dobby was primarily a CGI character, with actor Toby Jones providing his voice.

Riddle’s connection to the events of The Chamber of Secrets makes him one of the most significant new characters being introduced in Season 2. Hill and Barratt join Kit Harington, who has already been cast as Gilderoy Lockhart for the second season.
When Will Harry Potter Season 2 Release?
HBO has not announced a premiere date for Season 2 yet. The season is based on Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and is currently in preparation, with filming expected to follow the production of the first season.
Before audiences meet Rush’s Dobby, however, they will first be introduced to the new generation of Harry, Ron and Hermione.
Dominic McLaughlin plays Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton plays Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout plays Ron Weasley. The wider cast includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.
Season 1 is scheduled to premiere on December 25, 2026.
