As the US marks 25 years since the 9/11 attacks, Pete Davidson is looking at the tragedy from a very different place in his life. The comedian and Saturday Night Live alum is now 33, the same age his father, firefighter Scott Davidson, was when he died while responding to the attacks on the World Trade Center.

This year, Pete is also a father himself. His daughter, Scottie Rose Hewitt Davidson, was born in December 2025, and her name carries a deeply personal connection to the grandfather she never got to meet.

Pete has spoken about how becoming a father has changed the way he thinks about losing Scott Davidson on 9/11. Speaking to the New York Post, he explained that when he was younger, he thought of his father as being much older when he died at 33. Now that Pete has reached the same age and has a child of his own, he sees the loss differently.

“I thought, ‘Oh, he was an old guy. He’s 33,’” Davidson told the Post. “But now I’m there, and I have a kid, and that would be like my kid not having her dad.”

Who Is Pete Davidson’s Daughter Scottie?

Pete Davidson has one child, a daughter named Scottie Rose Hewitt Davidson, whom he shares with his former girlfriend, British model and actress Elsie Hewitt.

Scottie was born on December 12, 2025. Her arrival has also given Pete a new way to remember his late father, as her first name, Scottie, is a tribute to Scott Davidson.

The name was something Pete and Elsie both wanted for their daughter. Pete explained that his father’s name was Scott and that his nickname was Scotty. When their daughter was born, they felt the name suited her.

“It was really cool that Elsie also wanted to name her Scottie,” he told the Post. “My dad’s name was Scott, but his nickname was Scotty. When she arrived, we both looked at her and were like, ‘She looks like a Scottie.’ It’s nice to keep that name alive.”

Who Was Scott Davidson, Pete Davidson’s Father?

Scott Davidson was a New York City firefighter who died during the September 11 attacks in 2001. Pete was only seven years old at the time.

According to Pete, his father’s crew was the first fire truck to cross the bridge toward the World Trade Center after the attacks began. The tragedy claimed the lives of most of the firefighters from his father’s house.

Pete has previously spoken about his memories of Scott, although he was very young when his father died. He remembers him as someone who was funny, had a big smile and enjoyed making people laugh.

“My memories are few and far between because I was 7, but I just remember laughing a lot, him being pretty jacked and smoking a lot of cigarettes, and driving a Subaru Impreza. That’s all I remember.”

Pete has also kept some of his father’s belongings such as his firefighter badge and chain. He said he keeps them safely stored because they are among the few physical reminders he has of Scott.

How Has Pete Davidson’s Daughter Changed The Way He Thinks About 9/11?

Pete has said that losing his father did not fully hit him when he was seven. He understood the loss differently as he grew older, particularly during his college years when he began feeling anger about what had happened.

Now, having a daughter of his own has given the tragedy another meaning. Pete has admitted that he is still unsure about how he will eventually explain to Scottie how her grandfather died.

“Luckily, I have some time,” he told the Post.

For Pete, the 25th anniversary of 9/11 is therefore not only about remembering the firefighter he lost as a child. It is also about spending the day with the daughter who carries his father’s name.

“So, this year is extra tough, but also extra beautiful because I get to spend the day with Scottie,” he said. “It’ll be very healing and special.”

Pete is also took part in a comedy benefit at Madison Square Garden with Jon Stewart to mark the anniversary. He had said the event will give him a chance to “reclaim” the day and have some fun instead of spending it surrounded by documentaries that revisit the tragedy.
