The Punjabi music scene has undergone a significant transformation over the past decade with independent artists contributing close to 60% of the popular songs. Among these artists, Singer Kaka is one of the most notable ones for his raw and genuine lyrics, down-to-earth storytelling and original compositions hailing from a small village in Punjab, he has established himself as a recognized personality in North India.
Ravinder Singh also known as Kaka, is a Punjabi singer, songwriter and composer. His songs are inspired by real-life emotions and experiences and he focuses on being vulnerable and real instead of trying to create a commercial product and makes his songs appealing to people of all ages.
Ravinder Singh or Kaka, was born on April 5, 1994 as of 2026, he is 32 years old and he is 5 feet 6 inches tall, which is approximately 168 cm. He is from Chandu Majra village in Patiala, Punjab and his humble background continues to influence his singing voice.
He completed his early education in Patiala and then pursued a Diploma and later a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering and he studied at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Polytechnic College, managing his studies along with his passion for music. Industry reports suggest that 45% of independent musicians in India have non-arts academic backgrounds and Kaka is no exception to this rule.
He comes from a middle-class family and his father, Raj, is a mason while his mother is a homemaker. Kaka has a very strong bond with his elder brother, Anwar Singh.
Kaka’s journey in music began with low-key performances at school competitions and college shows after completing his education, he had a brief stint at the Punjab Urban Planning and Development Authority. He was earning around Rs. 25,000 a month. However, the COVID-19 lockdown came, and with it, the rise of digital consumption over 70%. Music became more prominent for him during this period and his big break came with Keh Len De in 2020 and then came Temporary Pyaar, which made him a household name. Since then, he has been releasing his own compositions one after the other.

Industry insiders estimate the net worth of singer Kaka to be over Rs. 20 crore with monthly earnings of up to Rs. 80 lakh. His sources of income include music streaming revenue, concerts, songwriting credits and digital platforms. Despite his success, he remains very much rooted in his village, where he constructed a guitar-shaped library that houses over 2,000 books.
