Rishab Rikhiram Sharma is a recognisable face of Indian classical music. Blending traditional sitar with contemporary music, the young musician has built a global fan following. He has become popular through his concerts, social media and his “Sitar for Mental Health” initiative. Now, Rishab is all set to make his Bollywood debut with Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. He has joined hands with music legends A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer.
A Legacy Rooted in the House of Rikhi Ram
Rishab belongs to the celebrated Rikhi Ram family, one of India’s known instrument-making empires. The family has carved sitars for maestros like Pandit Ravi Shankar. Rishab grew up while being surrounded by music and is trained in Hindustani classical from a young age.
Unlike conventional performers, Rishab has built a distinct identity. He fuses Indian ragas with electronic soundscapes. Interestingly, his concerts are known for their meditative quality. Rishab’s “Sitar for Mental Health” concerts are specially designed to promote emotional well-being. The initiative has earned him international recognition and taken him to stages across the world.
Bollywood Debut With Ramayana
Rishab is set to make his Bollywood debut with Nitesh Tiwari’s much talked-about film, Ramayana. Producer Namit Malhotra confirmed that the sitarist has officially joined the film’s music team alongside Academy Award-winning composers A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer.
Taking to Instagram, he posted a video of his live performance to the song ‘Rama Rama’ at Ramayana’s Pratham Sankalp event in New Delhi. In the caption, he wrote, “Honored to contribute to this historic project celebrating the story of Ramayana. I humbly present a rendition of ‘Rama Rama’ to you all performed live last night at Bharat Mandapam. See you at the Oscars. Jai Shri Raam.”
While no Oscar nomination has been announced, his statement reflects the global ambitions surrounding the film and its music. Ramayana will be released in two parts. The first film is slated for a Diwali 2026 release and the second will arriving in Diwali 2027.
