Tom Stoltman, the three-time World’s Strongest Man champion, is set to take on a new challenge away from competitive strongman events. The Scottish athlete has officially joined the cast of BBC’s Gladiators ahead of the hit show’s fourth series where he will compete as one of the superhuman Gladiators against contestants.
Produced by Hungry Bear Media and MGM Alternative UK, a division of Amazon MGM Studios, Gladiators will return to BBC iPlayer and BBC One in 2027. While the broadcaster has confirmed Stoltman’s casting, details including his Gladiator name and first look will be revealed at a later date.

Tom Stoltman is one of the most accomplished strongmen in the world. The 32-year-old athlete, who hails from Invergordon in the Scottish Highlands, became the first Scottish competitor to win the prestigious World’s Strongest Man title, according to BBC. He has gone on to claim the championship three times.

What Is BBC’s Gladiators?
Gladiators is a high energy BBC competition series in which everyday contenders face off against a team of elite resident Gladiators in a series of physically demanding events. Revived on BBC One in 2024, the show is hosted by Bradley and Barney Walsh and features challenges that test speed, strength, agility and endurance. Each episode concludes with the Eliminator, an obstacle course that determines which contender advances in the competition.
When Will BBC’s Gladiators Series 4 Air?
Filming for the new series is scheduled to begin in Sheffield this month with Stoltman joining the existing line up of Gladiators. Alongside the new season, the franchise will also return with a Gladiators Celebrity Special. BBC has confirmed that more information about Stoltman’s Gladiator identity and additional details about Series 4 will be announced in the coming months.
The fourth series is set to premiere on BBC iPlayer and BBC One in 2027.
