The show had already picked up eight awards at the Creative Arts Emmys before winning six more during the main ceremony on September 14. Its 14-award haul also broke the record for the most Emmys won by a comedy series in a single season. It has surpassed The Studio’s previous record of 13.
So, what exactly is Widow’s Bay, where can you watch it and why is everyone suddenly talking about it? Here’s everything to know.
Where To Watch Widow’s Bay?
Widow’s Bay is streaming exclusively on Apple TV. For viewers in India, the series is available through Apple TV with the official Apple TV India page currently listing the show and its first season.
The first season has 10 episodes. The series premiered on April 29, 2026, and its season finale arrived on June 17.
Widow’s Bay Plot
At the centre of Widow’s Bay is Tom Loftis, played by Matthew Rhys. Tom is a mayor who was born on the mainland and has big plans for the small New England island he now calls home. His goal is to revive the local economy by turning Widow’s Bay into a tourist destination that could rival places such as Martha’s Vineyard.
There is but one major obstacle. The people who actually live on the island believe Widow’s Bay is cursed.
Tom is not exactly convinced by those warnings. He is focused on bringing visitors to the struggling community and giving his teenage son a better future.
Eventually, his plan starts working. A travel writer publishes a glowing piece about the island, tourists begin arriving and the sleepy community suddenly finds itself dealing with an unexpected wave of visitors.
But then the island’s old stories start looking less like stories. Strange fogs, ghostly appearances and frightening creatures begin appearing. With poor cellular reception and virtually no Wi-Fi, the island is already cut off from much of the outside world. Now, Tom and the residents have another problem: they have to face the supernatural history they spent years trying to ignore.
That is where Widow’s Bay gets its unusual tone. It is a horror-comedy but the horror is not simply there for decoration. The supernatural mystery and the characters’ everyday problems are woven together, giving the series its distinctive feel.

The series was created by Katie Dippold who is also known for The Heat and Ghostbusters. Dippold serves as creator and executive producer while Hiro Murai is also an executive producer and directed the series.
